[Thumpy cosplay] Arknights Thumpy's Academy-Style Daily Shoot

Shooting Thumpy in the studio this time, my core aim was to capture that unique blend of an Arknights Operator persona with a relaxed, everyday slice-of-life warmth. For the wardrobe, I picked a classic sailor-style JK uniform—a crisp white base with a deep navy collar, an operator badge pinned to the chest, and an oversized pink-and-white polka-dot ribbon bow tied neatly at the neckline. The wig was a long pink-to-purple gradient styled with blunt bangs and low twin tails, topped off with a pair of fluffy pink-and-black animal ears. The makeup centered on the eyes, featuring reddish-brown contact lenses complemented by soft pink eye-shadow blending and delicate blush on the cheeks to accentuate a lively, youthful charm.

The shooting set was built within a pure white studio, centered around a circular pink rug printed with delicate floral and cherry blossom patterns. To harmonize with the overall mood, our prop team laid out various pastel gift boxes, clear jars filled with plush toys, and a classic black-and-white school satchel. Yet the undeniable star prop was that colossal orange carrot plushie, accented with a stitched white cartoon bunny patch. It was genuinely massive—swallowing nearly half my frame when held—which yielded an even more dynamic, exaggerated perspective in the opening shot. During the session, I explored a variety of gestures: sitting sideways cradling it in my arms, carrying it casually with one hand, or playfully offering it forward toward the lens.

Compared to stiff standing poses, sitting on the plush rug allowed the pleated skirt to drape and flare naturally, introducing rich visual tiers. For legwear, I styled pure White stockings paired with deep brown uniform loafers. While seated, the white tights flattered leg contours gracefully; paired with a sideways seated posture, it provided seamless vertical visual extension across the frame. To ensure the composition didn't feel bare, I scattered several gift boxes and pink plushies nearby to balance the negative space.

On the photography front, a wide-aperture prime lens was paired with diffused fill lights tailored for the white cyc wall, dialing the color grade into a soft, creamy pink-white hue. Direction with the photographer centered heavily on eye line and hand positioning; because the plushie was so large, any awkward grip or limb fatigue would instantly make the capture look unnatural. When resting a hand on my hip or hoisting the carrot, calculated wrist tension was essential to keep my upper body poised and upright.

The entire shoot was quite demanding on physical stamina—especially keeping my arms engaged while hauling such an oversized plush prop—yet beholding the finished deliverables made every drop of effort worthwhile. Out of the entire set, my favorite remains the one where I sit sideways on the patterned carpet; it seamlessly showcases the harmony between the white stockings and loafers while striking a balanced proportion between the plushie and character. I hope this photo set brings everyone a dose of cheerful, lighthearted fun, serving as a charming tribute to this operator's everyday leisure.
