[Sangonomiya Kokomi cosplay] Genshin Impact: Waterside Nightscape with Lanterns Seeking Glimmers of the Shore

This outdoor shoot truly took a tremendous amount of thought and effort. To embody Sangonomiya Kokomi's distinctive aura—blending oceanic fluidity with the serene poise of a Divine Priestess—we experimented extensively with various garment textiles. The most striking feature of this outfit is the sweeping gradient blue-and-white palette paired with translucent tulle cascades. When shooting by the water, even the gentlest breeze sent the sheer fabric billowing; while visually breathtaking, it certainly posed quite a challenge for photographer Xiao Xie Xin to capture the fleeting moments.

For makeup, prime attention was devoted to the eyes: applying light pearlescent eyeshadow paired with blue-violet contacts, we strove to capture that glistening, crystalline gaze reminiscent of clear waters. The wig was sculpted with distinct pink-and-blue gradient tiers, and the fin-shaped crown accessories were firmly repositioned to ensure no awkward reveals from any angle. The bodice features an off-the-shoulder cut and an expansive open back, placing high demands on posture—demanding that I keep my shoulders relaxed and open while holding my spine straight throughout the entire session.

Props were undeniably the standout highlight of this shoot. The handheld jellyfish lantern and the ultra-bright glowing orb were both custom-prepared. To achieve a translucent, luminous radiance in nighttime conditions, the internal illumination was calibrated repeatedly, and the suspension string holding the jellyfish was replaced with high-strength retroreflective filament, producing a subtle, starry glimmer against the dark sky. With a massive blue bow on the chest and knotted red cords around the waist, the outfit is rich with delicate details, requiring immense caution during pose adjustments to avoid crushing any ornaments.

When shooting on the rugged waterside reefs, the uneven rock surface made every seated pose and movement tricky, especially while wearing opaque white pantyhose (Stockings) and platform footwear. For the series seated on the rocks, balancing the flare of the skirt with flattering leg lines required testing multiple seated angles and shifts in center of gravity, striving to showcase the garment's layered architecture to its best advantage. To capture garment textures and the fine weave of the white pantyhose (Stockings) under low-light conditions, the photographer was exceptionally dedicated with lighting design, using a key light to carve silhouettes while relying on ambient fill to catch the rippling water reflections.

Later, we transitioned to a field of flowers to pursue a softer, gentler ambiance. Amidst pink cosmos blossoms, hoisting the jellyfish lantern toward the night sky brought down the overall color saturation into a tranquil harmony. Walking through the meadow demanded caution to steer clear of dry stalks and avoid snagging the sheer tulle. Post-processing prioritized preserving natural illumination and smooth color gradations without excessive airbrushing, retaining true fabric textures. In nighttime photography with illuminated props, controlling on-set practical lighting proves far more crucial than relying solely on digital editing. From sourcing props and scouting locations to final retouching, every stage was defined by meticulous polishing, and I hope this delivers a wonderfully immersive visual experience for everyone.
