Taking advantage of the good weather, I took a set of Kamisato Ayaka image leak, and this is my most satisfied photo from this photoshoot.
This time, a traditional washitsu (Japanese-style room) was selected as the shooting location. The wooden shoji doors and tatami mats perfectly match the daily living environment of Kamisato Ayaka as the eldest daughter of the Yashiro Commission. I specially brought along this red-and-white oil-paper umbrella and the Weiqi (Go) set, hoping to set off the character's temperament through static props during this Japanese-style photography session.
The wig this time was trimmed to fit the face shape relatively well, with the small hair buns on both sides tied up with black cords. Paired with the silver-white hair color, I am personally quite satisfied with the restoration level. In terms of costume, this off-shoulder modified kimono is actually not easy to manage, requiring very precise invisible straps inside to secure it. The ruffle details on the neckline and the golden trim on the cuffs were made as refined as possible this time.
The shooting process was actually very interesting, especially to strike poses that interact with the Go board. This seiza (kneeling) posture looks very elegant, but to capture that natural and relaxed feeling, quite a few shots were actually taken from the same angle. The weighty ceramic bowls for Go pieces and the wooden Go board on the table truly added a lot of points to the image. A basket filled to the brim with persimmons was paired on the right side, which is also a type of autumn mono no aware aesthetic.
Many people like Kamisato Ayaka because of her gentle yet independent personality. When shooting in the studio, I would consciously adjust the focus of my gaze, making her look gentle, yet with a hint of sharpness belonging to a prestigious sword art clan in her eyes.
This is just a Kamisato Ayaka image leak; we actually shot content under different situations for this photoset. In terms of lighting, we utilized the natural side light coming from outside the window, letting the shadows fall on the tatami mats, creating a lazy sense of afternoon sunlight.
Actually, the hardest part of shooting Kamisato Ayaka lies in the gaze and demeanor. For a character like a young mistress, she cannot be overly coquettish, nor can she be too rigid. We need to find that "Shirasagi Himegimi" feel under the blessing of the costume, hairstyle, and lighting. The center of gravity for that neck ornament and tassel must also be set straight, otherwise the frame will lack a sense of balance.
Looking at the raw camera output, I feel that the early preparation work was relatively worthwhile. This time, a massive amount of heart was spent on the set design and costume details. Follow-up finished photos will organize more interesting behind-the-scenes clips and shots from different angles, hoping everyone can feel the charm of this character being restored in reality through this Anime cosplay project.
