This time I'm bringing you an unused Qipao design look for Azur Lane Cheshire. In fact, this costume was initially passed over during the finalization stage because the design leaned more towards a lightweight mini-dress, lacking some of the official magnificent Royal Navy elements. However, when trying it on privately, I found that this simplistic tailoring actually complements Cheshire's agile charm beautifully.
The light blue satin Qipao features a high slit and waist cutouts. Combined with its natural drape, the fabric's sheen shifts with the light as you move, keeping the overall quality top-notch. To complement this refreshing color palette, the wig intentionally retains her iconic gray-blue highlights. The lace trim and ribbons on the hat were hand-stitched, with the pleat density of each layer carefully adjusted. Although it's a bit heavy to wear, it truly enriches the visual layers of the entire outfit.
The shoot took place in a vintage study scene; the wooden bookcases and distressed props ground the flowy feel of the light-colored clothing, making the frame's atmosphere more serene. In addition, it was paired with a white fluffy shawl and rug, which not only balances the amount of skin exposure but also adds a lazy autumn/winter vibe. At the time, to capture a natural and casual feel, I didn't intentionally strike too many stiff poses. Instead, I let my body completely relax, leaning against the blanket or turning sideways to look back. The candid moments captured were far more vivid than forced poses.
This Anime cosplay attempt strived to find a balance between a Qipao outfit and a 2D character, preserving Cheshire's lively traits while blending in the gentle lines of Eastern clothing, which I think was a highly innovative experience. The lighting in the photos was processed softly, making the skin tone and the cool tones of the outfit look very harmonious.
