This Chongqing ruins photography session features the character Hinako Shimizu, mainly aiming to present her state of being enveloped in despair yet carrying the resilience to survive in the world of SILENT HILL f.

First, let's talk about the environment. The abandoned classroom we found almost preserved its original state of being forgotten by time, with shattered glass windows, large areas of peeling wall paint, and several rusted metal window frames. Natural light filtered through those broken windows, forming a very strong contrast between light and dark, which perfectly matched the desolation and oppression of the character's setting. The side-rim light created excellent spatial depth in the frame.

In terms of clothing, I wore a deep blue sailor uniform paired with a red neckerchief. To stay true to the character design, the top and pleated skirt were specially treated with dust and stains, especially the fabric on the back, which was intentionally worn down. Many netizens saw the photos and asked if these details were added in post-production. In fact, during the early preparation phase, I had already discussed these textures and weathered details with the stylist. Wearing them realistically on the body allows for better integration into this ruins environment. For the lower body, I paired it with black over-knee socks, which also elongated the leg lines in the composition.

The core prop of this shoot was a katana. Holding this sword actually requires some weight, especially when performing upward swings or horizontal slashes, which demand a certain amount of wrist strength. In the second and sixth images, I held the hilt, and that cold metallic touch gave me a particularly immersive feeling. To express the character's combat and alert state, I tried several different poses, such as holding the sword down with one hand or raising it high with both hands. Although holding the sword for a long time was indeed exhausting for my arms, fortunately, the photographer's capturing rhythm was extremely fast, and many moments were frozen in the instant of movement.

Besides the sword, the red flowers scattered and held in my hands were also an important visual element. These highly saturated deep red flowers formed a strong color contrast with the surrounding worn-out gray-blue tones and wooden window frames. In the fourth image, I squatted on the ground, gently cradling those flowers in my hands and looking toward the side front. At that moment, I tried my best to let the character's core loneliness and helplessness in the face of an alien world flow through my eyes. In the first image, holding the flowers and looking out the window, beneath that seemingly calm exterior lies an underlying anxiety about the surroundings.

Throughout the shooting process, the dust on the floor, the blue abandoned desk, and the gray old cloth bag all provided rich details to support the entire scene. I didn't deliberately strike many exaggerated poses, but rather hoped to convey the character's core personality through restrained body language, such as a slight turn of the body, a backward glance, or a defensive stance while holding the sword.

The cooperation with the photographer this time was seamless, and we put a lot of effort into choices of lighting. Since the interior of the ruins was relatively dark, relying too much on flash or fill lights would ruin the cold, textured layers of natural light filtering through the glass. Therefore, we chose to utilize the diffuse reflection light from outside the window as much as possible, combined with high ISO to capture the real light and shadow changes in the frame, making the final result feel more cinematic and story-driven.

After the shoot, I was covered in dust, and my clothes had more blackish-gray marks rubbed on them, but this is exactly the unique fun of ruins photography. Overall, being able to complete this set of Hinako Shimizu Anime cosplay works in such an environment was a challenging yet fulfilling creative process for me. I hope everyone can feel that silent, firm, yet compassionate temperament of the character from these photos.
