[Castorice Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, Elegance and Coolness in a Dreamy Purple Tone

This photoset had actually been in the works for a long time, because I've always wanted to capture a dreamy sense that is both cool and slightly melancholy. The day of the shoot happened to coincide with a major temperature drop, which was highly fitting and perfectly aligned with that little joke about 'national cooling' in my caption. Choosing an indoor studio shoot, we set up white Roman pillars and purple tulle, which, paired with this meticulously crafted thorn crown and deep purple bow, instantly maximized the visual dreamy purple tone atmosphere.

There are actually many details in the outfit. The dark corset and black choker at the collar that everyone sees, paired with the white ruffled cuffs and these purple gloves, were deliberately color-coordinated to echo the hair and pupil colors. During the shoot, I tried to capture moments of casually raising my hands or holding the bouquet, striving to keep my expression in that nonchalant, slightly cold state.

The bouquet consisted of blue-and-white lilies and small purple flowers prepared by the photographer, which blended very comfortably with the overall color scheme of the scene, especially under the cool-toned lighting, making the makeup look exceptionally translucent. For the wig, I chose a lighter taro purple this time, which is softer than pure purple so it doesn't look too dull. The makeup focused on preserving the eyes' expression, paired with purple circle lenses, hoping to convey that cool, distant 'admire from afar' temperament.

Actually, as a coser, every outdoor or studio shoot is like a character reconstruction in our cosplay routine. Although the shooting process is very tedious—how to arrange the props and costumes, and how to set the lights to emphasize the layers all require repeated communication—the success rate of this photoset was incredibly high, and I am highly satisfied with the atmosphere. In post-production, I didn't do any exaggerated warping, focusing instead on adjusting the overall color temperature and unifying the tones. The cool lighting effects gave the skin more texture, beautifully highlighting the loneliness and sense of detachment brought by the character's identity.

The costume is actually very lightweight, not as sweltering as heavy armor, but to maintain the style of the wig and the state of the props, I also needed to hold fixed poses during the shoot. Although these bouquets are artificial, they still look highly delicate under the lights. The grip strength of holding the bouquet and the gaze were the best states found after repeatedly cooperating with the photographer.

In terms of lighting, the main light source pressed down from the front-side, outlining my silhouette and shoulder lines, while the purple backlight from behind supplemented the ambient atmosphere, making the overall look very breathable. Although the shoes are a hidden part, they were also matched with boots of the same color palette to maintain the color unity of the entire body.

To be honest, cosplay is not as simple as merely putting on clothes; it tests the overall control ability and understanding of the character. Although I made a little joke today about 'making the whole country cool down,' it is clear that everyone can still feel the ethereal and artistic vibe in this photoset. Being able to express my thoughts through images is a very happy thing in itself. I hope this photoset of the purple illusion allows everyone to see a bit of a different aesthetic in this cold weather.

In addition to restoring the costumes and props, the gaze and micro-expressions are also the highlights of this photoset. To fit that 'melancholy' temperament, I deliberately avoided exaggerated expressions, simply looking quietly at the lens or letting my gaze wander between the bouquet and the lights. The photographer is highly skilled at capturing these inadvertent expressions; even the moment my eyelashes drooped could be captured with that vulnerable yet resilient feeling.

It is also because of this styling that I deeply realized that a character's charm often stems from that unspeakable sense of contradiction—having both a cool, detached side and a faint revelation of care or sorrow. In the layout of the scene, the heavy weight of the white Roman pillars contrasted perfectly with the lightness of the vine-like flower crown. Combined with the hazy tulle cover, it allowed the light and shadow to have richer projection angles.

When adjusting the color tones in post-production, I paid special attention to the depth of the shadow areas to prevent the entire image from looking too dark, while preserving sufficient transparency. A color like purple, which easily looks muddy, can easily create a gray, hazy feeling if the lighting is poor or the ambient colors are not controlled well. However, during this shoot, both the preparation of the outfit/makeup/props and the photographer's lighting worked together seamlessly.

In addition, choosing the color of the gloves was meticulous work. To avoid looking out of place, I chose a matte and deeper purple fabric, so wearing them on my hands offers great texture without cheap plastic glare. The high-collar choker design perfectly transitioned the lines from the collarbone to the neck, making the character's posture more elegant and upright.

Overall, this was a highly dedicated creation; every bouquet and every lock of hair was carefully arranged. In the days to come, I hope everyone can look through these images, forget the trivialities of daily life, and slightly feel a moment of aesthetic beauty and peace.
