[Sakuya Izayoi cosplay] Touhou Project: The Blade and Timestop Guarding the Mistress

This photoshoot focused on Remilia and Sakuya Izayoi from Touhou Project, set inside a vintage European-style study. The carved wooden cabinets and leather sofa had an authentic, tactile presence; paired with the vintage desk lamp and heavy books on the tabletop, the classical ambiance emerged effortlessly. Our costumes were heavily crafted; the combination of deep blue velvet and pink lace put the tailor's craftsmanship to the test. With abundant lace trimmings—particularly the delicate pleats along the neckline and the large red bow—dressing and adjusting took plenty of time, but the resulting look was undeniably exquisite. For hair and makeup, the flow of the wig fibers was essential; we utilized silver-white hair and long light-blue hair. To match the aloof and haughty gaze, bright blue-and-red colored contacts were chosen. The photographer took great care with prop placement, arranging a vintage hand mirror and a crystal ball in various spots for foreground bokeh and reflections. During shooting, the photographer guided us through various compositions. One low-angle shot utilized the elongated lines of the white Stockings draped across the sofa, combined with an upward gaze, lengthening leg proportions while accentuating that languid yet commanding aura. Another close-up at the desk captured tea-pouring interactions between the two of us, where fingertip and wrist articulation required meticulous finesse—neither too rigid nor too casual—striving to convey both the maid's elegance and the mistress's noble grace. Ambient light in the study was dim; to better accentuate the velvet's sheen, warm lighting was used to illuminate facial contours. There was continuous communication throughout the shoot, discussing aperture and depth of field from the photographer's perspective across several camera angles. Wrapping up this set was truly exhausting—the skirt hems were heavy, and holding seated or standing poses for hours drained substantial energy, yet the chemistry with my partner was wonderfully in sync. Seeing the rich interplay of vintage nostalgia and classical grandeur in the final photos made this immersive shoot feel completely worthwhile, and the entire experience deepened my understanding of character roleplay.
