Sharing my impressions while trying on clothes for the Rita Huanxisha outfit from Honkai Impact 3rd. The white halter cold-shoulder cut places high demands on shoulder and neck lines; to maintain clean tailoring, I reinforced the undergarment rigging so the fabric wouldn't slip during movement. The black-and-gold rose embroidery paired with the inverted triangle cutout on the chest elongates the open space between the neck and bust, using sharp geometric lines to crisp up the overall silhouette. The diamond cutout at the waist rigorously tests midriff smoothness—I had to keep my core engaged throughout, which is why the posture might look a little taut, as letting go even slightly affects how flush the garment sits. The high side slit paired with over-the-knee Black stockings transitions the palette from opulent white and gold down to grounded black, anchoring the visual center of gravity. I chose semi-opaque Black stockings with some density to better sculpt the leg contours without feeling too sheer, while establishing a striking chromatic contrast against the white bodice.
The gear accessory and crimson sphere at the waist serve as a standout design focal point; the shifted weight creates a natural, flattering drape along the hemline. While the cape appears to be sheer pink gossamer, its tailored cut is quite sophisticated, billowing in layered tiers at the slightest motion. The textile itself features subtle jacquard patterning that really comes alive under natural lighting. While testing poses, I explored seated angles to highlight both the waist cutouts and the elongated lines of the hosiery while balancing the shoulder and arm contours. Even though the background is a bit cluttered due to fitting space constraints, the primary focus was documenting garment fit and structural details. Documenting fittings is physically taxing—striking specific poses without proper camera angles can easily look bulky. The visible watermark and background brush marks reflect the authentic, raw process of trying on clothes without hiding anything.
Looking back, I was captivated by the design sketches of this skin years ago—drawn to that unique blend of opulent elegance and cold lethality. Regrettably, circumstances kept me from cosplaying it back then, so this project fulfills a long-standing wish. While Fu Hua is my absolute favorite and I cosplay her most often, finally getting to bring to life a character I loved years ago is deeply meaningful. For long-time fans, interpreting an early dream design carries a profound sense of ritual. The metallic accents chime softly with each step, a tactile detail that helps me immerse myself in character. Rita embodies an effortless, composed grace, so during the fitting, I kept my back straight to convey quiet authority and poise. If any element still needs refinement, I apologize in advance as I'm still dialing in the nuances.
This session highlighted several tweaks to make, such as cape draping angles and hosiery height, which I'll adjust before the formal shoot. The joy of cosplay lies in this entire hands-on journey: selecting fabrics, tailoring, fitting, and fine-tuning every seam to turn imagination into reality. Breaking out of comfort zones to tackle new aesthetics is always rewarding. The interplay between the fabric's soft sheen under studio lighting and the matte texture of the Black stockings creates a tactile contrast best appreciated in person. That depth is why, even after all these years, fulfilling this personal dream was worth every bit of time. I'll continue perfecting the details for the final shoot.
