When I got my hands on this Z9 cosplay outfit from Azur Lane, I was honestly a bit nervous because this character design is extremely obscure. I searched across various platforms for a long time, but could barely find any fellow cosplayers who had done this character, so this costume try-on was entirely a matter of exploring on my own.

The wig is a pale flaxen-gold long curly style with plenty of volume, but the bangs and side curves needed manual styling. It took me nearly two hours to craft that fluffy, slightly messy airy texture matching the original illustration. The bunny ears are made of plush material with supporting wires inside so they can stand upright; wearing them for too long squeezes the top of my head a bit, but I endured it for the sake of authenticity. The most challenging part was the leotard design. The massive ruffled collar bow combined with the heart-shaped metal ring was actually quite heavy in person. Combined with the shoulder straps and buckles, it took several adjustments after putting it on to keep the heart ring centered without tilting.

I really love the texture of the White thigh-highs outfit elements—they aren't sheer or paper-thin, but have a slightly matte white weight that fits the legs nicely. The hem of the leotard cuts right at the top of the thighs, visually elongating leg proportions. During the shoot, I tried to recreate poses from the original illustration, testing both kneeling and high-angle perspectives. The white plush rug and the pet cage in the background weren't intentionally set up; they were just part of my everyday home environment, yet unexpectedly complemented this soft, cute white theme. Red contact lenses were the finishing touch, giving the whole makeup look an instant anime vibe.

Even though this outfit is essentially a niche within a niche in Azur Lane, my hands-on try-on proved its tailoring to be very refined—the waistline is cinched just right, and the ruffled chest adds layered depth without feeling plain. Pairing a light-colored Bunny girl cosplay style with white thigh-highs creates a soft, translucent glow under natural light, yielding much better photos than expected.

The greatest joy of doing an obscure character costume try-on is the absence of comparison; you can interpret the character entirely according to your own understanding without competing with others over accuracy. For this shoot, I kept the makeup light, emphasizing only the red eyes and blush to prevent heavy makeup from overpowering the wig tone. The setting was simple—a plain white wall and a pet cage—yet side lighting created lovely shadows along the small metal rings and collar ruffles.

In summary, while this Z9 cosplay look lacks a lavish ballgown or complex weapons, it's packed with details. Combined with the Bunny girl cosplay aesthetics and White thigh-highs outfit, it exudes a uniquely pure charm. If you play Azur Lane or love minimalist white bunny-themed looks, this hidden gem is definitely worth trying—it's far more comfortable to wear than it looks, and the success rate for great photos is surprisingly high.
