This shoot portrays Laffey from Azur Lane (Laffey cosplay), specifically the beloved "Sweet Bunny" Bunny girl version. Stepping in front of the set wearing this bright blue patent leather high-cut bodysuit, my entire vibe instantly turned sweet and playful for this Bishoujo cosplay.
The costume's detailing is exceptionally thoughtful. This royal blue high-cut bodysuit is crafted from patent leather with a metallic sheen, which produces a stunning glossy texture under soft studio lighting, making it visually striking. The classic off-the-shoulder cut is paired with oversized white detached sleeves featuring delicate blue piping along the edges. Embellished with 3D white plush pompoms at the cuffs and shoulders, it not only enhances the fluffy volume of the outfit but also perfectly aligns with the soft, cuddly bunny theme.
The accessories elevate the cuteness even further. The buttons on the chest and sides of the outfit are decorated with several mini white bunny plushies, creating a subtle contrast between soft fluff and sleek patent leather. The large white bunny ear headband on top serves as the crowning touch; the pink inner ears, along with the blue bow and pink pompoms on the band, capture the character's lively spirit just right. To complement the entire look, I wore a silver-white long wig with beautiful drape. For makeup, I chose a clean, clear stage eye makeup look with pinkish blending to make the eyes appear more innocent and sweet; both the makeup finish and skin texture came through gorgeously in this shoot.
The shoot took place in an indoor themed studio where the photographer built an exquisitely aesthetic set. A white carved European round table, vintage classical books, delicate tea sets, alongside Roman pillars, a faux white fireplace mantel, a gold-carved full-length mirror, and a vintage clock emitting warm light in the background made the soft furnishings thoroughly refined. Abundant pale blue and off-white floral arrangements, paired with a white plush shaggy rug covering the floor, dominated the scene in white and blue, creating a deeply soothing, dreamy ambiance.
In terms of camera collaboration, to showcase the costume's advantages and the character's versatile charm, I explored various poses. From sitting leisurely by the small round table and gently holding a teacup to show an elegant, relaxed side, to sitting openly on a vintage wooden stool to highlight leg lines and the White thigh-highs outfit texture, to lounging playfully on the white rug interacting with glossy black high heels—the white tights and royal blue bodysuit formed a classic blue-and-white palette that looked visually crisp.
Throughout the entire shoot, the photographer paid meticulous attention to lighting. Soft diffused light combined with warm ambient glow highlighted the translucency of the skin and the White thigh-highs outfit, producing gentle tones and crisp layers. The cool-toned blue outfit and warm-toned white background interlaced beautifully, making the final photos look dreamy yet rich in texture. Wearing black high heels added a balance of maturity and playfulness to the overall look, while natural prop handling and relaxed posing made the finished shots even more authentic.
During on-site shooting, because of the unique fabric, adjusting the angle of light was key. When shooting sofa seating or kneeling poses, I deliberately let the sleeves slip slightly down my arms; the off-the-shoulder design and white plush trim beautifully accentuated the collarbones and shoulders while lending greater fluidity to the gestures. The stark color contrast between the white tights, royal blue bodysuit, and black patent leather heels enriched the visual layering of the lower body. To find the most fitting sensual expression for this outfit, we tested multiple perspectives. For example, sitting with legs gently drawn together showcased the supple elasticity of the White thigh-highs outfit, whereas standing compositions emphasized the snug fit of the patent leather bodysuit and body curves, with pointed black heels adding sleek refinement. The white hosiery and fluffy white sleeves harmonized seamlessly with royal blue, forming a color-blocked combination that is aesthetically delightful.
Though the background appeared elaborate, it added rich textural layers to the frame. The gold-carved full-length mirror served not only as a prop, but also captured reflections from different angles, adding playful interest. In the final photos, warm-toned lamps and cool-toned floral arrangements complemented each other, cultivating a winter fairy tale feel.
