Cheshire's swimwear look has never been the most practical for everyday wear, which became the first real challenge I faced when deciding to join the Chimelong Water Park ACG Party during a Guangzhou weekend. To balance walking around the event with posing for photos, I modified the original swimwear structure. Retaining the core black-and-white color scheme, I re-tailored the waist and skirt silhouette to ensure it could comfortably withstand a full day of outdoor activities—which is why the photos showcase a modified black-and-white outing ensemble.
For hair and makeup, Cheshire's most recognizable feature is that streak of clear, bright blue woven through her gray hair. I custom-ordered a wig blending silver-gray with light blue and cut well-defined bangs to accentuate her playful personality. Blue contact lenses paired with winged eye makeup focused on recreating her signature gaze. The yellow-and-black striped bowtie at the neck serves as the visual focal point of the outfit, which, together with the black-and-white ruffled sleeve covers and broad white cotton splicing on the chest, gives the styling rich texture and depth.
To match the summer vibe of Chimelong Water Park, the lower half was paired with slip-resistant chunky black Mary Jane shoes. The white over-the-knee Cosplay stockings not only honored the original character design, but also reflected outdoor sunlight beautifully, looking visually crisp and refreshing. For posing, I deliberately chose a stance lifting both sides of the skirt hem, showcasing the tiered ruffled design while keeping my center of gravity stable and natural. Leaning against a transparent glass curtain wall allowed natural light to outline my silhouette—a soft, luminous lighting condition perfectly suited to her lively, upbeat persona.
Because this took place in an authentic outdoor setting, I prepared sun protection and heatstroke prevention in advance, using waterproof materials to reinforce key accessories. The bright sunshine on the day made the black-and-white outfit pop with sharp contrast on camera, requiring minimal post-processing. The interactive energy of an outdoor setting is something studio shoots can hardly replace; the breeze catching the ruffled hem captured the most natural dynamic moments.
Bringing Cheshire's styling to life at a real outdoor water party was a deeply satisfying experience. Combining Chimelong's water attractions with ACG elements made me feel as if I had stepped right into a summer festival from the game. This modified outfit preserved the character's core spirit while allowing me to fully enjoy gathering with fellow anime fans. The results of this on-location shoot met all my expectations, and I look forward to unlocking more Cheshire portrayals in real-world settings in the future.
