This photo set for Phanuel from Path to Nowhere was chosen to be shot at Swan Lake for a night view. The background blur brought by the large aperture is truly amazing, as the distant city lights all turned into soft circular light spots, matching the dreamy feel of the character exceptionally well.
The costume is a white-and-pink themed angel idol style, with an abundance of lace, bows, and heart elements on the top and skirt hem. To highlight these details, we put a lot of thought into the lighting, keeping the front fill light as soft as possible to avoid overexposure swallowing the clothing's texture. The skirt hem of this outfit is very large and heavy, requiring waist strength when spinning; the dynamic candid shots in the pictures took running back and forth several times to find the most satisfying fluttering arc.
The hair features light golden twin-tails with slightly curled ends, and the huge heart-shaped halo hair accessory on top of the head is actually quite heavy, requiring many hair pins to secure it and ensure it doesn't shift during the shoot. The eye makeup specifically emphasized red-pink tones, paired with the mark on the forehead, making the overall effect fit the character setting very well.
The lower body is paired with white stockings and beige high heels. Standing on one leg in high heels outdoors to pose is actually quite a test of balance, especially when needing to lift the leg high to showcase the skirt hem and stocking lines, which requires keeping the core tight all the time. Fortunately, the light and shadow texture turned out great, and the stockings have a delicate glossy feel under the nighttime flash.
The temperature was quite low when shooting this set of photos, but the photographer's shutter speed and timing for candid shots were extremely precise, freezing almost every action in its most expressive moment. The reflection on the surface of Swan Lake also added some layers to the frame. This night view shoot in Hefei went very smoothly overall, and the straight-out-of-camera atmosphere was already sufficient, with just minor post-adjustments to skin tone and contrast to present a fantastic effect.
