Today, I am sharing a set of seaside location shots styled in this self-curated Chizuru Mizuhara ensemble. I originally wore this coordinate to Comicup (CP), and loved the results so much that I couldn't bear to part with or sell the outfit. Because of that, I specially restyled a brand-new wig and contacted photographer @CRAZY.K to head out to the coastline for a dedicated outdoor photoshoot.
I actually poured substantial thought into assembling this look. Wanting to set it apart from standard canonical official designs, I leaned into items that channel an everyday summer girlfriend aesthetic. The dress is a tiered ruffle cake dress featuring delicate blue floral ditsy prints over a crisp white base; its lightweight textile yields a graceful drape and buoyant flutter in the sea breeze without adding bulky heaviness despite the multiple tiers. For the top, I layered a light-blue long-sleeved knit cardigan that echoes the color palette of the sky and ocean; to keep it from looking plain, I laced up the slender built-in ties in a criss-cross pattern, adding nuanced visual depth. The wig was completely recrafted: I thinned out the blunt bangs and repositioned the side side-tail to ensure the styling would not reveal wig nets or slip during head turns and active movement. Its chestnut brown tone reflected the sunlight with just the right warm luster without looking dull, and the fiber quality dictated whether the hair looked poetic when caught in the wind.
The makeup nuances were also carefully calibrated. To fit the character, the base was applied light and dewy, complemented by reddish-brown eyeshadow and cosmetic lenses. The most distinctive feature—the red cheek markings from the original canon—was delicately traced with liquid eyeliner, making them stand out under natural daylight without appearing harsh, while infusing a playful charm into the expression.
For the lower half, I opted for over-the-knee Black stockings paired with platform buckled leather shoes. The over-the-knee Black stockings visually elongated the leg lines, while their subtle sheer opacity forged a bold chromatic contrast against the white dress, cleanly delineating leg contours. The platform soles not only boosted my height, but also provided stable footing across the soft beach sand to prevent sinking. The pastel pink bow bag in hand served as the crowning accent of the ensemble; its muted pink tone gently softened the cool purity of the blue and white palette, introducing a vibrant, youthful girlishness.
The shoot took place along the shore, and the weather treated us wonderfully: vibrant contrast between azure skies and white clouds, with a distant crimson arch bridge shimmering through the ocean mist. The coastal winds blew fiercely, but that dynamic wind turned out to be our greatest creative asset. Photographer @CRAZY.K is an absolute master of kinetic action capture, freezing billowing hemlines and windswept locks to inject living energy into every frame. The direct sunlight was intense, but around 3:00 PM the chiaroscuro was exquisite—facial shadows remained soft, and the raw, straight-out-of-camera tones were so clear and translucent that virtually no heavy post-processing was needed for skin tones or environmental hues. Not wanting to waste such pristine lighting and scenery, we captured a vast range of compositions spanning sweeping wide-angle landscapes to intimate waist-up portraits.
The entire shoot went smoothly; while trekking through sandy beaches in heels is physically demanding, seeing the final frames made every bit of effort worth it. Having a self-curated ensemble deliver such compelling results was deeply validating. That is precisely why I couldn't bear to let this outfit go after CP—it not only records my love for the character, but also carries so much of my own creative thought regarding styling and visual storytelling.
