[Asuna cosplay] Blue Archive maid outfit convention photos, cleaning is also part of a maid's duties

Today's maid-themed cosplay convention photos represent a brand new attempt from makeup and styling to set design. Although the lighting at the convention site was complicated, the photos still turned out great. This time I'm cosplaying Asuna, with the theme of a cleaning maid. The black and white color scheme of the outfit with blue accents, along with the cutout design at the waist, is a highlight of this cosplay costume, but it also has quite high demands on the figure. To maintain my state, I controlled my diet a few days before the convention. The black stockings on the legs with lace trims, combined with the length of this skirt hem, provide a very nice visual lengthening effect. In terms of props, I specially prepared a metal mop, teapot, teacups, and a few small cakes. The Q-version plush doll and vintage books at the bottom were brought by myself to increase the realism of the scene. The low-angle upward shooting perspective was proposed by me to the photographer, which can better highlight the body proportions and costume silhouettes. However, with people coming and going at the convention site and a relatively messy background, I purposely chose a corner of the exhibition hall for shooting, making use of the venue's top lighting and a wide aperture to blur the background. Since the skirt hem of this outfit is quite short, I constantly had to pay attention to preventing wardrobe malfunctions while adjusting my standing posture and movements. For actions, I designed some playful gestures, like a peace sign and holding the mop, combining it with the line "cleaning is also part of a maid's duties," which fits the character's personality very well.
Cosplaying is not an easy task; from organizing the wig and adjusting makeup to capturing on-site movements, every step requires patience. However, being able to present a character I love in such a lively, everyday-life style makes it all feel completely worth it. Regarding hair adjustment and wig styling, because Asuna has long hair, to capture a flowing texture in the exhibition hall, I pre-curled it slightly with a curling iron and sprayed enough styling hairspray. The base makeup leans towards a clean and translucent texture, matched with blue circle lenses to highlight the character's traits. In terms of prop arrangement, to create a sense of conflict combining a tea party and cleaning, I specially placed the silver tray at the very front, forming an interesting contrast between the delicacy of the tea set and the industrial feel of the metal mop. During on-site shooting, the venue's top light was quite harsh, easily leaving shadows on my face, so I constantly adjusted angles to let the photographer find a position with better facial lighting as much as possible. Although low-angle shooting can elongate leg lines, due to the short skirt hem, extra care was needed with the range of motion when posing, using thigh strength to maintain a stable standing posture while keeping the upper body relaxed. During the shoot, I also communicated with the photographer, trying different shutter speeds to capture dynamics, such as the instant of pretending to pick up the mop to clean, or gently smiling while holding a teacup. As a coser who frequently goes to conventions, I deeply know that the quality of convention photos largely depends on early preparation and the ability to adapt to the environment on-site. This set of convention photos not only brought the character's iconic attire but also integrated these everyday props, making the whole character much more vibrant. Although the cosplay process is tiring—dragging heavy props through the exhibition hall while constantly minding makeup and styling—seeing that atmosphere combining playfulness and elegance presented in the final photos makes all the effort feel completely worthwhile. I hope to bring more character interpretations in different styles later and continue exploring in the 2D world.
