Today's set was brought to life in collaboration with photographer Xingqi at the Xuzhou Laowei Photography Studio. The theme centered on an everyday sporty gym uniform girl—a crisp, refreshing aesthetic I've long yearned to explore. To cultivate the overall ambiance, I prepared monochrome plush Animal ears paired with long black tresses styled with blunt fringe bangs. For makeup, I opted for tonal pinkish eye makeup and matching contact lenses, subtly winging the outer corners to make the gaze pop before the camera while leaning into the cat-girl aesthetic.
For the wardrobe, I picked a white polo-collared jersey trimmed with black piping, stamped with 'Ice Cream' across the chest, featuring black stripes along the collar and cuffs, paired with black athletic shorts below. Naturally, the element I loved most in this ensemble was the white over-the-knee socks. Pairing White stockings with athletic sportswear creates visual contrast—preserving energetic sporty vigor while introducing a soft, youthful feminine charm. The stockings yielded brilliant white specular highlights under the sun; during shooting, I paid close attention to keeping leg muscles relaxed to avoid unsightly compression indentations, ensuring lines rendered naturally.
Scouting the right location was decisive; for this indoor Studio portrait, the absolute highlight was the venetian blinds across the right-hand window. The afternoon sun on shoot day was perfect, filtering through the blinds to cast rhythmic, geometric zebra stripes of light and shadow across the wooden bookshelf, woven tatami rug, and my body. This interplay enriched the composition with immense depth, evoking a languid, cozy afternoon mood. To elevate visual storytelling, we introduced a soft pink-and-white volleyball as the hero prop.
The ball-toss shot was a true test of shutter timing. Perched on the couch edge, I propelled the ball upward with both hands while tracking its trajectory closely with my eyes, ensuring my facial expression never collapsed. This movement was repeated numerous times to ensure the volleyball suspended at the ideal compositional height just as sunlight grazed my cheek. The floor-crawl shot reaching out for the ball from a low angle vividly captured that playful 'oops, the volleyball rolled away!' moment, demanding exacting control over arm lines and forward torso pitch.
Beyond the volleyball, the studio was accessorized with a wooden ukulele and a plush brown teddy bear. In the profile shot cradling the ball on the sofa, resting the ukulele against the couch edge added an artsy touch to the frame. Sitting cross-legged on the floor while lightly touching the Animal ears with my left hand was designed to showcase overall styling details. Throughout shooting, I repeatedly verified that the wig edges lay flush and the ears remained symmetrical, ensuring viewers perceived an organic, adorable presence rather than jarring props.
Reflecting on the entire session, this seemingly casual loungewear sport aesthetic demands high body relaxation. Limbs cannot look stiff; you must feel as though you're genuinely playing around in your own room. The photographer offered immense support in coaxing genuine emotions, constantly guiding head, neck, and waist angles. While the combination of White stockings and sportswear carries striking on-camera charisma, it requires constant vigilance to avoid wardrobe malfunctions while harmonizing kinetic range. The keeper rate for this set was exceptionally high—lighting and color across every frame met expectations, perfectly embodying my vision of a crisp, refreshing Volleyball Girl aesthetic.
