Shooting this Wuthering Waves Suisui cosplay was filled with both challenges and fun from costume prep to set construction.
First, regarding the costume design: it's a modified sleeveless Chinese-style dress. The white base is emblazoned with gradient fire and soaring bird totems in shades of blue, yellow, and orange, creating a richly dynamic visual. The dress features an ultra-high side slit that elongates the leg line beautifully; for modesty and ease of movement during dynamic poses, I layered black form-fitting safety shorts underneath. Trailing from the back are long, gossamer streamers in blue, white, and gold, which cascade gorgeously across the floor whether standing or kneeling.
For accessories, I wore black fingerless leather gloves on both hands and reddish-orange sleeves along the forearms to enhance the look's layered depth. The long-handled black staff prop and the black lace folding fan were two indispensable accessories: wielding the staff lent a crisp, confident edge, while holding the lace fan to veil half my face brought out a softer, demure grace.
The wig is waist-length with light blonde, gentle curls, adorned with red ribbon wraps and hairpin accents, requiring substantial styling time to maintain its shape. For makeup, I intensified the gradient of the crimson eyeshadow paired with delicate eyeliner, bringing the overall aesthetic closer to an expressive anime style.
For set design, against a clean white backdrop, we brought in a traditional Chinese wooden horseshoe armchair and a dark wood tall flower stand displaying a navy blue vase with gold motifs and pink blossom branches. During the shoot, I explored lazy poses cross-legged on the chair, standing poses accentuating full-body proportions, and looking back over my shoulder while kneeling with the fan veiling my face. Glossy black pointed-toe stiletto heels not only added height but visually stretched the leg silhouette even further.
Throughout the shoot, the high-slit design made the leg lines striking during movement, though prolonged standing and kneeling in high heels required considerable stamina. The gradient print and sheer chiffon streamers held up wonderfully under the studio lights; post-processing focused primarily on preserving fabric color vibrancy and skin tone evenness. This was a heartfelt production, and I hope everyone feels the character's distinct charm through these photos.
