[The Shorekeeper cosplay] Wuthering Waves: Blue Reverie by the Coast

We finally wrapped the coastal shoot for The Shorekeeper from Wuthering Waves. The design of this outfit is truly distinctive: the upper half features a sheer mesh fabric paired with a white bodice and silver metallic buckles, accented by side cutouts across the waist and abdomen, while the lower half transitions into a multi-layered asymmetrical white mini skirt. To faithfully recreate the canon layers, I added a fine glitter tulle to the inner lining; under the flash, the white fabric reflected a delicate pearlescent sheen. The most captivating feature was the set of bright blue flowing ribbons—airy and shimmering with glitter—though keeping them under control amidst the coastal breeze was quite a feat on set.

Hair and makeup were also primary focuses of the prep work. The long Blue hair wig could easily look flat under nighttime artificial lights, so I spent considerable time trimming and styling the bangs and face-framing strands to flatter my contours. I chose blue contact lenses to harmonize with the hair, emphasized eye depth, kept the base makeup clean and dewy, and wore a cool-toned lipstick to channel the character's serene, enigmatic aura. In front of the mirror, I practiced expressions and poses beforehand to balance her aloof composure with the fluid gentleness of water.

Arriving at the beach, the real conditions were far harsher than anticipated. Nighttime ocean winds were biting and temperatures dropped low; standing barefoot on the chilly sand demanded genuine endurance. We specifically wanted that wind-swept dynamic motion, which required maintaining absolute postural stability despite the gusts. Because the outfit has extensive cutouts, the clinging fabric warped easily in the wind, demanding costume readjustments before every shutter press. To ensure the ribbons caught the wind gracefully, the photographer continually calibrated camera angles and speedlight positions, while I worked with the breeze—raising arms or angling my torso while keeping a steady expression without squinting against the cold wind.

To enrich the visual balance and composition, I experimented with varied standing stances and angles. Standing with a slight side tilt, softening one knee, and shifting my center of gravity onto the back foot helped elongate leg lines while showcasing the mini skirt silhouette. My arms echoed the ribbon flow—one hand gently touching the hair ornament and the other resting naturally by my hip for balanced symmetry. The sandy grain underfoot and the ink-black ocean in the distance lent natural depth to the frame, making the blue and white garments pop with striking contrast. The textures and cuts were fully brought to life under the night lighting, with the blue streamers dissolving into the deep sea to create an extraordinary sense of space. The shoot stretched late into the night; though the coastal gale was draining, reviewing the final cuts on the camera screen made every ounce of grit and preparation worthwhile for this Anime cosplay series.
