[Papyrus cosplay] Arknights Guangzhou Arknights Only: Kemonomimi cosplay Hands-on Record - Image 1

The preparation period for the offline Guangzhou Arknights Only event coincided with the release of new content for the Garrison Protocol. Loving the lively, scattered-stars atmosphere, I decided to team up with friends to cosplay big and small Papyrus together, choosing this Kemonomimi cosplay look. A crucial part of cosplaying Papyrus this time was managing the oversized plush animal ears. Because the ears are quite large, attaching them directly to the wig easily leads to wobbling and dropping when walking around or looking down on-site. Therefore, I specifically sewed snap buttons at the base of the ears, stiffened the roots of the wig with hairspray, and reinforced it with a wig net so it maintained its shape even while navigating the bustling Guangzhou Anime Convention floor.

The wig is bright orange, a color quite demanding on skin complexion. To keep my face from looking dull, I adjusted my foundation shade and focused primarily on the eye makeup. Papyrus's iconic large-pupil blue colored contacts served as the finishing touch; paired with defined eyeliner, they gave the photos a much stronger 2D anime-style visual clarity. When posing to recreate the character's demeanor, I tried various angles: tilting my head, gazing straight into the camera, and lightly tapping my chest with my index finger. These gestures, coordinated with the neck collar and metal chains on the chest, resulted in better compositions. The grid card hanging accessory on the garment featured many intricate details, requiring careful positioning so as not to obscure the neck embellishments. The light teal striped hoodie paired with the white inner layer looked fresh, forming a striking contrast with the orange hair.

On-site, I swapped accessories with friends, touched up makeup together, and captured plenty of fun interactive behind-the-scenes moments while testing effects under different lighting—for instance, under warm yellow light, the wig color became deeper and softer, while in natural light it appeared brighter and more dazzling. To maintain the wig's fluffiness, carrying a small comb to groom the bangs periodically was essential, as oily, flat bangs would ruin the photoshoot effect. This experience provided valuable hands-on expertise in maintaining animal ear accessories and setting wigs, building useful tricks for future Kemonomimi cosplay endeavors. Although the entire shooting process was a bit tiring, participating in this event with everyone and soaking in this unique atmosphere was deeply fulfilling for someone passionate about cosplay.
