We've finally finished shooting this set of Swire the Elegant Wit convention photos today! By far the most demanding aspect of portraying this character was styling the wig. With orange hair blending into a subtle light-gold gradient, keeping the frontal bangs and side spiral ringlets perfectly sculpted required generous amounts of hairspray and setting mist in pre-production, shaping the texture bit by bit. Trimming the lace base also took hours to ensure the hairline laid completely flat against my forehead so no mesh showed during dynamic movements. Given the considerable weight of the wig itself, we anchored special supports at the crown; by the end of the day, my neck was definitely sore. For makeup, faithful to her official artwork, I wore vivid emerald-green cosmetic lenses. Eye makeup was enhanced with accentuated lashes and lowered lash lines, with each bottom lash meticulously applied one by one to give the eyes extra depth and spirit. The makeup focused primarily on expressive eyes and a radiant, porcelain base, paired with a dewy, high-shine lip glaze to capture that signature blend of tsundere pride and aristocratic elegance. To keep the foundation pristine and smudge-free throughout the bustle, setting sprays and translucent powders were applied thoroughly after extensive preparation. It was an elaborate endeavor, but seeing the final selects brought immense satisfaction.

The garment and its accessories are extraordinarily rich in detail. The wide-brimmed black hat is trimmed with plumage, sheer black veil mesh, and florals, swaying with natural grace as I walked. The separate black arm sleeves feature hand-stitched pearl chains, metallic paillettes, and gilded embroidery borders; because the tailoring is sharp and form-fitting, I wore a corset beneath to provide clean structure. While firmly cinched and slightly constrictive, it produced much sharper collarbone, neck, and waist contours that truly fit the character. The gilded sashes and rear ribbon bow required careful alignment. The black lace folding fan proved to be an essential prop during the shoot—not only giving my hands dynamic purpose, but also filling compositional negative space, working wonders for half-body glances and coy, veiling poses. Furthermore, the miniature satchel and hanging trinkets were fully crafted to match canonical concept art. Under convention strobes, the outfit looked exceptionally rich, with the black-and-gold palette naturally radiating classical, opulent prestige befitting Miss Swire.

Capturing convention photos is truly a test of real-time improvisation. Comic-con lighting is notoriously chaotic, frequently requiring us to hunt for rim lighting or side-backlit angles. To make the black, gold, and white accents pop, we leveraged ambient stage lighting to cast sharp specular highlights across the golden jewelry. The photographer excelled at kinetic capture, constantly guiding me into postures of leisurely nonchalance tinged with playful haughtiness. A wide aperture was deployed to melt away convention crowds into creamy bokeh, ensuring visual focus locked solely onto the subject and attire. For the glance-back pose, engaging core torque from the waist while slightly tucking the chin and locking eyes onto the camera produced the sharpest jawline and catchlights. With foot traffic constantly bustling past, securing clean framing required immense patience. While wearing this ensemble was cumbersome and restricted my stride—demanding continuous vigilance over the wig and accessories, and careful maneuvering in crowded aisles due to the oversized hat—the resulting shots turned out fantastic, with nearly every detail faithfully realized. Having fellow fans recognize the character and gather for convention badge photos made every ounce of effort worthwhile. It was an exhilarating shoot that provided great creative experience, and I look forward to refining even more micro-details in upcoming outdoor shoots.
