[Takanashi Hoshino cosplay] Loungewear Day Off in Blue Archive

This photo set mainly aims to capture Takanashi Hoshino's cozy loungewear aura in Blue Archive. During the shoot, we used indoor diffuse lighting combined with white tights and an oversized white hoodie, focusing the visual emphasis on the legs and relaxed body language.

Pre-shoot preparation was a bit different from usual; instead of complex outdoor sets, we chose an indoor space featuring a blue-and-white checkered sofa. For the wig, I wore long pink hair styled for this kemonomimi cosplay look, paired with blue contact lenses. To fit her signature laid-back vibe, I kept the eyeliner soft and used gentle blush to create a casual, natural flush, while selecting a matching teal nail polish to echo the blue eyes.

For props, the black, white, and red toy gun was very striking, though it had some noticeable heft. To strike effortless poses, finding the right center of gravity was essential—such as leaning back into the sofa or cradling it in my arms as seen in the pictures, ensuring the posture felt natural. The blue plushie was soft and tactile, serving as a great comforting prop. In close-ups and half-body shots, leaning on the plushie or supporting my posture on an elbow kept the movement from looking rigid. The texture of the long white tights cosplay required careful lighting control to prevent blown-out highlights from overexposure; during retouching, I intentionally preserved the fabric's tactile weave without excessive skin smoothing to maintain an authentic, everyday loungewear realism.

We shot four poses across different angles for this set. The first shows me lying on the sofa, emphasizing leg lines and overall ease; the second features me seated with an off-the-shoulder glimpse, conveying an unguarded intimacy; the third is an extreme close-up capturing a subtle expression to highlight the character's gap-charm; the fourth has me sitting on the tatami clutching the plushie, evoking cozy everyday warmth.

Beyond props, the indoor decor was equally vital. The blue-and-white checkered couch slipcover paired with the woven texture of the tatami mats, alongside potted greenery and small hanging wall baskets in the background, brought this home setting to life. Indoor shooting truly tests one's ability to manipulate natural daylight; a subtle shift in the curtains yields shadows of entirely different nuances. In framing beforehand, we aimed to give the white tights an elongated, sprawling feel, opting for slightly wider focal lengths on full-body shots to accentuate the relaxed atmosphere.

Post-processing focused on color grading toward cooler tones, matching the character's signature cool palette. The face was brightened and minor skin blemishes smoothed, but the shape and natural wrinkles of the garments were kept entirely untouched to preserve authentic loungewear realism.

Because Hoshino has that famous oji-san personality in her character lore, I constantly sought out that 'can't be bothered to move' sluggish sensation during the shoot. Rather than rigid posing, I went with the flow. While many players adore her combat-ready badass aura, I chose to show her completely unshielded side—lounging, leaning back, as if on an undisturbed weekend day off where no one can bother her. Preparation took a few hours, and despite being a cozy stay-at-home style, managing lighting and costume adjustments proved just as demanding as an outdoor location. Still, I was thoroughly satisfied with the final shots, which offered a gentle, understated angle for portraying the character.

Throughout the session, the down-to-earth home setting placed high demands on the synergy between model and photographer—how to extend legs to look slender yet unforced, aligning the angle of the face with natural light, and constantly rearranging couch cushions. Because it was loungewear cosplay photography, it required a more relaxed, effortless delivery. I'm so grateful the photographer grasped that core oji-san laziness, capturing images infused with an airy, casual ease. Stripped of extravagant staging, this natural, stay-at-home stillness captures the character's true soul best of all.
