The core of this shoot for Dorothy's Peach Blossom Banquet styling lies in presenting an atmosphere that is both gorgeous and somewhat dreamy. From costume preparation to on-site shooting, every single stage pursued the restoration of details.
Let's talk about this outfit first. The main body of the dress is white, but semi-transparent tulle was used on the shoulders and sleeves, adorned with exquisite floral embroidery that reveals a delicate texture under the light. To prevent the large area of white from appearing monotonous, pink ruffles and ribbons were added to the skirt hem edges, creating a wonderful fluid movement when walking or sitting down. The wig was chosen in bright pink, styled into rounded bun hair loops on both sides, paired with petite pearl flower hair ornaments, bringing out the overall silhouette. In terms of accessories, over-the-knee White Stockings paired with white pointy high heels can visually elongate the leg lines, which was also a part I intentionally emphasized during the shoot. Regarding makeup, to match the pink color scheme, eyeshadow utilized same-tone blending, paired with mixed-race-style circle lenses to make the gaze more focused.
The shooting location was decorated with a large amount of pink light sheer fabric and pearl chains, coupled with crystal candelabras and flowers covering the ground, offering an extremely strong sense of layering. To let the character blend into the environment, I tried several different sitting postures. For example, the photo holding up the skirt hem and sitting with crossed legs utilized pink satin as the foreground, creating a contrast between the white dress and the pink background, while this posture wonderfully showcased the over-the-knee Stockings and leg curves. There was also a pose holding a teacup, paired with a slight head-tilt action, adding a bit of dignified elegance.
The use of props was also crucial. The white iron art birdcage was filled to the brim with purple and pink flowers; holding it or sitting beside it enriched the frame's storytelling, making it feel as though one were situated within an exquisite secret garden. Exquisite small items like the white folding fan and pendants held in hand added plenty of detail points in close-up shots.
The on-site lighting was cast very softly, and the diffused light brought out both the texture of the tulle and the subtlety of the skin. Because the scene colors were relatively rich, in terms of expression and gaze control, I tried my best to maintain a quiet, slightly cool and aloof state, avoiding appearing overly sweet and cloying like the background. This photo set was successfully completed at Yingyue Dimensional Studio, and I am deeply grateful to the two photographers, Aoyama Nanami and Linghu Jingming, for capturing these moments through their lenses. Their professionalism on-site regarding lighting and composition helped turn the vision of Dorothy strolling among the flowers in my mind into reality.
