Bringing this Genshin Impact Columbina x Sandrone duo to life took a much longer timeline from pre-production to the final frames than anticipated. To resonate with the fractured, enigmatic atmosphere of the setting, the dark jacquard patterns, metallic accents, and leather bracers across the costumes were all cut, spliced, and stitched by hand piece by piece. Wig styling was another major hurdle: my hair tips required a smooth gradient highlight transition, while my partner's long pale-blonde wig for Sandrone demanded rich, sculptural layering—it took nearly a week just for trimming, thinning, and heat-setting.
Among the shoot props, the glowing moon orb was custom-made from acrylic. To achieve an even, moonlight-like glow in low-light environments, we installed a multi-level cool-toned LED fixture inside and frosted the outer surface. On the shooting day, temperatures in the mountain woods plummeted rapidly. To capture that fantasy ambiance native to the game, we waited with our photographer Tokisaki until the sky went completely pitch black. With no harsh ambient light, all highlights and shadows relied on the subtle synergy between the luminous prop orb and portable fill lights. In the close-up shot of Photo 1, our faces were almost touching as we gazed into the orb; the upward diffuse reflection lit our features, letting a natural calmness and intense focus emerge across our expressions.
The wide-angle night composition in Photo 2 is my absolute favorite. We perched on an elevated ledge backed by the deep starry expanse. To prevent the skirt folds from pooling awkwardly into a bulky clump, I had to extend my legs forward, relying on high-heeled sandals to lengthen the arch of the foot, while my partner beside me wore long white Stockings, which caught the sweeping light to outline the graceful silhouette of her legs. Waiting for a timely gust of wind to lift our hair into an airy curve without obscuring our faces required multiple retakes, all in pursuit of that kinetic elegance.
The high-angle perspective in Photo 3 presented another pose of quiet reliance. I remember sitting on the freezing stone surface, both of us closing our eyes to savor that stillness as the orb's faint gleam kissed the fabric folds—in that fleeting moment, all exhaustion seemed to evaporate. The gaze-lock close-up in Photo 4 was a rigorous test of micro-expression control. With cool and warm tones weaving across our skin, I lowered my head slightly while my partner tilted her chin up to look at me, our eyes tasked with conveying deeply layered emotions. Partnering with her was such a delight; our reactions in front of the lens were completely in sync. Every click of the shutter felt like a tender reconstruction of the characters' bond.
