Appearing at the Oishi booth at ChinaJoy this time, my styling for Nian (Nian cosplay) was finally revealed to everyone in person! I actually couldn't resist previewing the venue back on August 1st, but booth lighting that day was relatively restrictive, and no matter how I framed the shots, it felt like Nian's distinctive essence didn't fully come through, so I held back on posting photos back then. Today, as the final day of ChinaJoy, I was determined to bring this journey to a complete and satisfying close. Overcoming a shortage of hands on set, I hoisted a fill light in one hand while steadying the camera in the other, hunting down angles for selfies. Though my arms were completely sore, seeing the resulting shots made every ounce of effort worthwhile.

Speaking of this Nian cosplay, the intricacies are genuinely endless. To faithfully recreate that iconic pair of red-to-black gradient dragon horns, I invested considerable care into positioning and reinforcement, ensuring they wouldn't easily dislodge amidst the dense convention crowds. The silvery-white wig was styled with an accent side braid that, combined with crimson eyeshadow gradients and pointed elf ears, brought out the untamed yet enigmatic persona seen in the concept art. Selecting the wardrobe materials also took extensive searching: the geometric crimson motifs and dragon pattern prints on the coat were rendered with meticulous fidelity, while the cropped red bandeau top paired with elaborate tactical techwear belts preserved core character iconography while injecting a modern edge. In particular, the long red gauntlet gloves bore golden filigree that gleamed brilliantly under the venue lights; I carefully tailored their fit so gripping props would project raw kinetic strength.

Standing at the booth all day was physically exhausting, yet seeing so many fellow fans who love Arknights (Arknights) and adore Nian gather around was deeply touching. Everyone was earnestly discussing lore, and several friends brought handmade freebies and fan merchandise to trade. The convention floor's electric yet chaotic atmosphere puts a cosplayer's poise and state management to the ultimate test: maintaining character carriage continuously while responding to sudden candid snaps. Often I reflect that cosplaying is never just about wearing gorgeous costumes to snap a few photos; it is about forging a genuine bond with like-minded souls through this medium and celebrating our shared devotion to the character.

Holding that elongated prop weapon and cycling through various stances, I truly felt aligned with Nian's freewheeling, carefree spirit. Holding a lighting wand single-handed while snapping selfies is real physical cardio—sometimes, just to catch crisp catchlights in my pupils, I had to repeatedly recalibrate the angle while ensuring the garment remained flat and the dense wig didn't obstruct my vision. Before shooting, I repeatedly checked the mirror to ensure the makeup hadn't smudged and that garment folds fell into optimal display lines. This is an essential discipline every cosplayer must continually hone: crafting the highest visual impact under constrained conditions. Although this ChinaJoy journey has concluded, the memories will linger. I already miss interacting with everyone at the booth and hope that next time we meet, I will be armed with even more complete photography gear to deliver even more stunning shots.
