This magic-themed Daji styling is finally here for everyone to see. First, let's talk about the overall design of this outfit: it features a striking blue and pink color-blocking scheme. The blue satin top comes with an off-the-shoulder cut, with the neckline and cuffs spliced with plenty of white lace and pink pleated ruffles. A white apron featuring a pink animal face expression is tied around the waist, while the skirt hem boasts a layered tiered-cake skirt structure. With a blue outer layer and pink hemline, every layer features delicate lace stitching, creating a visually rich aesthetic. To complement this sweet Maid outfit style, I picked a bright pink short curly wig and invested a lot of effort into the makeup. To match the magic theme, I wore bright blue contacts, blended a generous wash of pink eyeshadow around the eyes, and placed rhinestones on the forehead and under the eyes to add a sparkling touch. The plush pink Animal ears on top of the head and the white headband adorned with blue ribbons serve as the finishing touches, instantly elevating the character's lively grace.
While shooting this set of photos, we spent a great deal of time setting up the background. In front of a pink backdrop curtain, a giant blue cotton-candy-shaped prop was placed, sprinkled with colorful sprinkles and hung with chocolate signage written with letters. It was surrounded and accented with pink and white faux flowers, as well as green turf and foliage. Holding a small tray carrying a strawberry cake, I immersed myself as much as possible in the atmosphere of a magical dessert shop. For the outfit, I chose white over-the-knee Stockings paired with sock garters, detailed with pink lace frills along the sock edges, matched with white platform shoes decorated with blue bows. This pairing offers great advantages for full-body shots, effectively elongating the leg lines.
During the shoot, showcasing the intricate details of this outfit was a major focus. The fabric of the entire costume is relatively substantial, especially the voluminous skirt hem, so when posing, I deliberately held and lifted the skirt edge gently, or used hand gestures to highlight the plush ornament at the waist and the apron details. For instance, in the scene standing on the round platform, I placed one hand on my hip and lightly touched my head with the other, standing with legs slightly crossed. This not only revealed the overall silhouette of the garment but also allowed the white Stockings and platform shoes to be fully framed. When squatting among the grass holding the cake, to let the skirt fan out into a perfect arc, I adjusted my seating position several times to ensure both the lace trim and the pink inner skirt were clearly visible. The lighting was created using softboxes combined with reflectors, giving the skin tone an even look while bringing out the premium sheen of the satin fabric.
Throughout portraying this character, I constantly sought the balance between sweetness and magical elements. Poses shouldn't be too stiff; they require a hint of playful cuteness while maintaining poise. For example, making a finger-heart gesture with a subtle head tilt, or looking into the camera while holding the cake, were all optimal angles found through multiple attempts. The entire shoot went smoothly, and the color scheme of this look photographs exceptionally well. Post-processing only needed slight adjustments to the contrast between pink and blue to achieve a very clean anime atmosphere. Styling the wig was also quite convenient—just a quick touch-up with a curling iron at the ends to maintain bounce and volume was enough. I hope this share provides some inspiration for friends who love this kind of styling, and feel free to try various angles for both makeup details and posing.
