【Itasha Cosplay】Blue and white Western-style dress beside the Itasha: Underground parking lot photography Record - Image 1

Preparing this blue-and-white color palette ensemble took considerable thought and effort—everything from shaping the wig to refining the gold trim and button details demanded meticulous planning beforehand. Choosing an underground garage for this Underground parking lot photography shoot was primarily to complement the Itasha in the background, which is wrapped in a vibrant blue theme. The expansive blue water ripples and white character graphics across the vehicle's livery formed a wonderful color harmony with this Blue and white Western-style dress and white wig. To match the intricate garment structure, I also prepared a metallic-textured longsword prop in hand.

The greatest challenge of Underground parking lot photography lies in lighting. While overhead fluorescent fixtures in the garage offer ample brightness, their color temperature leans cold and easily causes harsh specular reflections on car paint and metallic props. During shooting, I asked the photographer to explore angles that avoided direct light sources, leveraging the depth of the parking structure and the vehicle's curves to frame the shots. The half-kneeling sword pose is actually far more strenuous than it appears: the core must remain tightly engaged to keep the upper body steady, all while managing the drape of the skirt and coat tails to prevent obscuring leg lines or making the silhouette look disorganized.

Because the backdrop features an ACG-wrapped vehicle adorned with specific lettering and graphics, composition required balancing the proportions between subject and car. The subject couldn't completely block the key motifs of the vehicle livery, yet the foreground subject had to maintain sharpness and serve as the undeniable focal anchor. The prop sword spanning across the frame served as a compositional leading line, seamlessly bridging the subject's gaze with the visual elements on the car.

In just a few days, August 1st through 3rd marks the Zhengzhou ZCZ Comic Exhibition (Zhengzhou ZCZ Comic & Games Carnival). A dedicated Itasha zone has been set up this year, and I can't wait to see more incredible Itasha builds on site! I'll be attending the convention in this exact attire, so everyone is warmly invited to come find me in the Itasha area for photos and meetups. You are also welcome to reach out anytime for cosplay networking to exchange insights on costume construction, prop maintenance, and shooting experiences whether in underground garages or at conventions. Whenever cosplaying such elaborate outfits, finding a balance between comfort and visual impact is always a compromise, but seeing the final images faithfully capture garment details and scene atmosphere makes every bit of effort completely worthwhile.
