[Rem Cosplay] Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Coolness and Healing Live at the Convention

This set of convention photos shot live on location focuses primarily on a cool yet gentle ambiance. Before heading out, I communicated extensively with photographer WiFi, ultimately settling on this blue and white Western-style dress. Combined with a flower bouquet and a ruffled umbrella, we aimed to establish a serene atmosphere amidst the somewhat cluttered, industrial space of the convention hall.

While preparing the styling, handling the hair ornaments and bangs took considerable effort. The light blue wig needed clean, refreshing layering, especially the iconic pink hair ornament on the forehead, whose positioning and fastening method were adjusted repeatedly so it wouldn't shift or look out of place during the shoot. Makeup featured a pale base paired with blue contact lenses, striving for transparent, clear eyes so the light-toned attire wouldn't feel disconnected. The dress was custom-made; despite being a convention outfit, I was quite pleased with the restored details, including the large blue bow at the waist, multi-layered sleeve ruffles, and rose decorations dotting the skirt hem. Wearing white stockings and buckled leather shoes made walking around the venue all day rather exhausting.

Looking back over the complete set, the first pose—kneeling on one knee holding flowers—was intended to amplify the character's gentleness, offering a quiet gesture of giving alongside the pale bouquet. The standing shots with the umbrella turned out to be the most captivating angles of the day. Because the umbrella was so large, adorned with layered white lace and blue bows, opening it created a natural visual focal point above my head while fully supporting the dress silhouette. Arrayed overhead lights lit the hall while softboxes and photo gear filled the background; under this crisp, cool lighting, the blue and white palette looked exceptionally textured.

We tried different angles for the seated poses, sitting on a white plush mat with the large umbrella resting beside me or holding the bouquet. The composition for these was slightly lower, utilizing the smooth reflective floor to incorporate bottom reflections into the frame, creating a richer sense of depth. The shots with extended legs were particularly eye-catching since white stockings popped against the dark background, preserving overall leg lines beautifully.

On the day of the shoot, walking through the hall in this outfit drew recognition from many fellow fans who identified it as Rem cosplay. Although adjusting the umbrella, smoothing skirt hems, and fine-tuning lighting and positioning with the photography crew took multiple attempts, seeing these final photos made all the hard work completely worthwhile. With chaotic noise and light at the convention floor, capturing clean, emotionally resonant frames relied entirely on the photographer's candid captures and on-site equipment support. Publishing this photoset feels like a fulfilling summary of my anime cosplay role at the event.
