This set of Tushan Honghong cosplay photos has finally been organized and is ready to meet everyone. We actually encountered quite a few challenges on the day of the shoot, but fortunately, I am very satisfied with the final texture of the images. Massive thanks to the British Arch-Witch for managing the Cosplay photography and color grading, which brought a dreamy yet slightly heavy atmosphere to the light, shadow, and tones of the entire frame.
I made significant adjustments to the makeup and styling this time, striving to achieve high character accuracy while retaining some of my own ideas. Styling the wig and managing the sideburns took a long time, as I wanted to present a fluffy yet agile texture. For the costume, I chose lightweight, flowing fabrics paired with a pink-and-white color scheme, hoping to achieve a visually soft, CG-like texture. The red strings and the massive dark rock-like backdrop behind me were the crowning strokes. To capture this feeling of sitting on a tree trunk surrounded by a Sakura cosplay environment, we scouted several locations and finally chose to press the shutter at this angle with the best lighting.
The day of the shoot was actually quite exhausting, because I had to climb onto this massive prop set and present a lightweight state while suspended, which demanded high control over my core strength. The light and shadow in this photo lean toward the soft filtering of dusk. To prevent the highlights from overexposing while preserving the layers of cherry blossoms and the colors of the red strings, we repeatedly tested the camera parameters and metering modes over a dozen times.
Sharing this set of photos is my way of expressing this state of being deeply immersed in the character. It's not just about recreating a character, but also about bringing this aesthetic atmosphere into reality through the medium of Chinese anime cosplay. I handled most of the post-processing work myself, including some partial reshaping and micro-adjustments of light and shadow, hoping to add a soft-focus anime filter effect while preserving the authentic skin texture.
I hope everyone can feel that unique nonchalant yet slightly mysterious aura of this character through this set of photos. Only when heart and soul are poured into a shoot can the final images truly convey emotion. I quite enjoy this process of handling the entire workflow myself; from detail shaping to light and shadow expression, every final image hides the hard work of myself and my partners behind the scenes.
