This outdoor photoshoot is finally ready to meet everyone! Preparing for this Tushan Honghong cosplay took considerable dedication beforehand. In terms of wig styling, the fox ears atop my head needed not only stability, but also a fluffy, dimensional texture; the direction of the hair strands was adjusted repeatedly. The red, white, and purple color palette of the garments and the yellow tassels draping down the sides were designed to stay as faithful as possible to the original character design. To capture the character's gaze, I specifically chose striking green contact lenses, hoping these nuances would present the sharp yet spirited presence fitting the Leader of the Demon Alliance in this Chinese anime cosplay.
When scouting outdoor locations, we explored numerous venues before settling on a traditional garden featuring a pond, rockery, and lush trees. To harmonize with the atmosphere beneath the Bitter Love Tree, we tested several camera angles. Stepping barefoot onto the rough rocks was genuinely prickly, and with the stones chilly in the autumn air, I gritted my teeth and pushed through for natural authenticity on camera. The golden bells strapped around my ankles jingled softly with every step, actually helping me immerse deeper into character. The photographer intuitively grasped the vibe I wanted; rather than forcing rigid poses, we relied on natural light and gentle breezes to capture dynamic moments, allowing the frame to breathe with Anime-style photography.
The character of Tushan Honghong holds immense weight in my heart. She embodies both unyielding strength and vulnerability—radiating that commanding dominance from her iconic line protecting all of Tushan, while hiding profound tenderness and sorrow deep within. In front of the camera, I practiced subtraction in my body language, adopting side profiles with a slightly lowered head to convey her composure, and subtle hand gestures to reveal her inner softness. The countless cycles of reincarnation beneath the Bitter Love Tree and bonds spanning past and present lives are heavy emotions that 2D photographs can hardly bear alone, yet I hope this series lets everyone feel that unwavering resolve to protect.
From hair and makeup styling to the formal shoot, the journey was filled with challenges. Achieving proper costume texture alone took considerable time in selecting fabrics and matching accessories. On site, the wind was strong, repeatedly disheveling the wig; the staff had to step in frequently to fix stray hairs while continuously adjusting reflectors to maintain clean facial lighting. This real-world outdoor location shooting was certainly tougher than a studio session with far more unpredictable factors, but the authentic ambiance it provides is something a green screen could never replace. Completing this shoot smoothly owes everything to the behind-the-scenes dedication of the entire crew.
