[Fugue Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, Swaying Fox Tail and Ancient Style Visual Aesthetics - Image 1

Having just finished this realistic studio photoshoot for Fugue Cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail, I was particularly pleased with these light-and-shadow interwoven photos while reviewing the raw shots. The photos don't intentionally seek gloominess in a dark studio, but instead utilize warm yellow tones paired with foreground florals and a red-and-white folding fan to present a classical warmth and agility belonging to the character.

The design of this outfit is packed with details. Most eye-catching is the dark satin material of the top and the red paneling at the neckline, calm yet stunning. The golden metallic flowers and green butterfly-shaped accessories on the chest and waist serve as the visual centerpieces of the whole attire; rather than overwhelming the look, these accessories create a fantastic sense of layering against dark fabric. To get the complex straps and waistband smooth around the waist, I spent considerable time adjusting their positioning before the shoot—ensuring a slimming silhouette while keeping tassels and metal buckles symmetrical. Heavy-craft apparel often demands extreme patience in arrangement, but under realistic studio lenses, every minute spent paid off in rewarding quality.

For makeup and hair, I specifically chose bright green contact lenses, a hue that beautifully echoes the agility and mystery of the Fox clan girl, paired with slightly winged eyeliner and warm-toned eyeshadow to give my gaze a touch of charm without losing crisp coolness. For lip makeup, a matte lip tint in true red was selected to brighten the overall complexion under warm yellow lighting. The black slightly wavy long wig underwent careful trimming and grooming to fall right around the collarbones, maintaining natural fluffiness in its curls; paired with black-and-white color-blocked fluffy animal ears, it instantly maximized character recognition. Although this wig and animal ears combo wasn't light, to keep hair accessories from shifting during shooting, I used plenty of bobby pins to secure them, ensuring the styling stayed intact even with body movements.

Many Chinese elements were intentionally added to scene arrangement in this Ancient style photography work. The foreground floral art you see features white lilies and yellow daisies I handpicked, offering bright colors that break any potential heavy feeling from dark apparel. The red, white, and black folding fan held in my hand echoes patterns on the skirt hem via its ribs and fan face. White teacups and a whole bowl of deep purple grapes on the dark wooden square table to my right add a rich touch of everyday warmth and charm, ensuring the scene feels natural rather than overly staged. The faintly visible bamboo leaf screen in the background outlines a cozy, serene atmosphere of an ancient maiden's chamber.

We encountered a small hiccup during shooting: because the white fluffy tail behind me was huge, sitting down and posing made it very easy to squeeze, causing it to lean sideways. The photographer had to pause frequently to help re-adjust the tail's orientation. Additionally, to capture the folding fan in its most graceful posture, we needed to repeatedly adjust arm height and fan opening angles, finding a sweet spot that blocked excess light without letting blowing fans mess up my hairstyle—quite an effort indeed.

As a thoughtfully prepared Anime cosplay, I hoped to convey through the lens that mysterious yet gentle aura of this Fox clan girl. Fugue carries many stories in Honkai: Star Rail settings, and beyond presenting exterior splendor, I wished to capture that subtle composure in her eyes. Every time I do a cosplay with rich Oriental fantasy styling, it is an ultimate exploration of details for me. Completing this work in a great studio felt incredibly fulfilling, accomplishing a goal I set for myself.
