This time, the shooting location was chosen by the outdoor stream. To fit the scene, a classic Sailor suit was chosen for the clothing, featuring a white short-sleeve top paired with a dark blue navy collar and a pleated skirt, with a light blue bow tied at the neckline. The hairstyle was styled into twin tails, paired with black cat-ear hair accessories, and the overall colors formed a great contrast with the green vegetation in the background.
The sunlight on the day of the shoot was fantastic, with light passing through the leaves to form mottled light and shadow on the water surface. I stepped barefoot directly onto the moss-covered rocks, and at first, it took some time to adapt to the height difference of the rocks and the water temperature. The stream water was very cool, and the moment my feet stepped in, it dispelled the summer mugginess. The White stockings worn became translucent after getting wet, sticking tightly to the legs, and the texture of the water splashes was very obvious.
To capture the dynamic motion of splashing water, I needed to continuously perform kicking, squatting, or jumping actions on the rocks. The photographer opposite used high-speed continuous shooting to capture the moment water droplets froze in mid-air. This process tested a sense of balance greatly, requiring keeping the facial expression natural while ensuring the movements were fluid. In some photos, I held fallen leaves over my head, and in others, I stood on one leg while holding up the hem of the skirt. To ensure the vividness of the picture, we tried many angles, and the clothes and hair inevitably got wet by the water.
When shooting while sitting, my legs were immersed in the water, and the splashes generated by kicking sparkled under the backlight. Later on, the White stockings were completely soaked through, so we simply kept this state and shot a set of images sitting on a rock taking off the wet socks. Although it was a temporarily added action, it turned out to look very natural and casual. The entire shooting process was very physically demanding because I had to constantly look for my center of gravity on slippery rocks, but that vibrant dynamic feeling in the final photos is hard to replicate in a studio. This outdoor shoot not only recorded the unique refreshing feel of summer, but also served as a great exercise in physical strength and expressiveness.
