Holding the longsword and battle flag within the moody stairwell, photographer Shiwang's lens captured the distinctive haughty pride of Jeanne d'Arc (Alter). Preparing this costume in advance took immense effort, with the curvature of the headpiece and the length of the skirt hem undergoing several adjustments. The fabrics utilized substantial black velvet and cotton, and sewing the ruffled apron hem took a long time to achieve that perfect heavy drape. The matching white stockings and thigh straps were key details that elevated the overall character accuracy. Balancing on the stairs in high-heeled sandals was quite strenuous, and thankfully the photographer helped anchor the central focus of the composition. This full-body pose raising the flag was designed to project a domineering, overwhelming sense of presence, complemented by heavy vignetting so the lighting could fall precisely across the facial features, skirt drape, and stocking textures. During the shoot, keeping the flag steady while maintaining a sharp, piercing gaze required repeatedly adjusting my points of exertion. The subsequent waist-up sword-drawing shots also cleanly conveyed the character's cold, slightly mocking stare. Shiwang is exceptionally skilled at handling high-contrast imagery in ultra-dark environments, balancing the black, white, and red tones with remarkable texture in post-processing. Seeing myself on screen with red eyes and silver hair made all the lengthy costume tailoring and physical exertion entirely worthwhile. The makeup and styling control was also crucial for this shoot; if the red around the eyes was slightly too heavy, it would look overly flamboyant, but if too light, it would lose that sense of vengeful malice—only coming together with soft facial lighting in post-production. The shooting process felt like a deep immersion into the character's persona; without needing many words, simply standing in the right spot and holding the pose naturally brought forth the Dark Gothic style atmosphere. The flag prop had high air resistance, requiring careful control when swung indoors to preserve a sharp, destructive edge. The black strap details over the white stockings stood out crisply under hard light, greatly flattering the leg silhouettes. Only through the organic integration of costume and props could such an outstanding, atmospheric character portrayal be achieved.
