A lot of thought went into today's Yukimura Chieri look, from the makeup to the costume details. Because Chieri in Amairo Chocolate is that kind of soft, cute character with a touch of personality, I focused primarily on crafting the right atmosphere. For the wig, I chose a long straight silver-gray model with blunt bangs; adding the cat ears instantly brought out the overall silhouette. However, to keep the ears positioned naturally, quite a few bobby pins were added underneath. They began to pinch a bit after wearing them for a while, but the resulting photos were definitely worth it.
The makeup was kept relatively soft and delicate. I chose light blue colored contact lenses, blending a touch of blush around the eye area and lightly brushing a bit over the tip of my nose to naturally convey a tender, fragile presence in front of the lens. The focus was still on the eye makeup—the eyelashes were not overly exaggerated, creating a distinct, defined look that felt more natural. To complement this maid-style black dress, I manicured my nails ahead of time, wore black ruffled fingerless gloves, and even selected white stockings with moderate opacity that resist snagging. These are all subtle details often overlooked in cosplay photography, but they heavily influence the final photo quality.
The shooting location was in a corner of the convention hall, with dark curtains and metal pillars in the background that echoed the black dress nicely without distracting pops of color stealing the frame. I tried several different postures: leaning slightly forward with arms gently open while standing elongated my proportions and fully displayed the lines of the skirt and white stockings; sitting down with crossed legs on a white fleece blanket added a soft touch, making the composition feel grounded and serene. The photographer, Miaodan, captured the lighting with great precision, keeping both facial highlights and rim lighting exceptionally clean.
The entire shoot was actually quite demanding on stamina. Because the wig was so long, I had to smooth it out every time I changed poses, and the gloves and cat ears tended to shift easily. Still, seeing the final photos made all that fussing feel completely worthwhile. This set includes collage-style torn-paper layouts that add an anime touch, as well as standalone full-body shots and close-ups. The overall color tone leans cool white, which matches my impression of Chieri perfectly. I hope to pass on the joy of Moe Day—wishing everyone a happy October 10th!
