This Clara cosplay shot on-site at the Changsha ACC Anime Convention achieved the expected results in both costume texture and overall styling. The red wide-sleeved trench coat has a relatively broad pattern, so I used black leather buckle straps to cinch it at the waist, which, paired with the white plush balls and golden tassel decorations on the front, enhanced the layering of the outfit. The stacked neckline design of the white inner layer is slightly loose, beautifully maintaining the natural folds of the clothing during crouching and sitting postures. For the wig, I selected long white hair with a soft texture, which, combined with the pink contact lenses, neutralizes the visual tension brought by the red coat and softens my demeanor. When scouting locations on-site, I placed high importance on open spaces like convention venues; the dark reflective floor can mirror the red and white colors of the outfit, keeping the frame from looking too monotonous.
Cooperating with photographer WiFi, we designed corresponding movements based on different booth layouts. For instance, the one making a heart is primarily aimed at balancing the interaction between the convention scene and the character herself, concentrating the visual focus more on the face and body language. The salute photo utilized a slightly higher angle for shooting, which, paired with the blurred background behind me, grants the foreground character higher completeness. During the shoot, we also considered responses to outdoor lighting changes, trying our best to avoid direct overhead lighting to prevent overexposure issues on the hair and reflective fabrics.
For the character Clara, the focus of shaping lies not in glamour or coldness, but rather in an approachable affinity, so for my expression management, I inclined toward slightly lifting the corners of my mouth and relaxing my gaze. Although it was crowded on-site, a shallow depth of field focal length isolated the sense of layering between the character and the background. The makeup this time didn't overemphasize contouring but rather reinforced the silhouette of the eye makeup, paired with an eyeliner slightly elongated at the inner corners to adapt to the texture restoration under convention lenses.
The shooting time wasn't long, but the overall output rate was quite good; the cuff details and black binding details of the costume can be clearly displayed in close-up shots. The atmosphere of the Changsha ACC Convention also indirectly influenced my shooting state; the feedback from the surrounding audience allowed me to more naturally perform in accordance with the character's personality. There were quite a few fellow enthusiasts watching on-site, but since I had done mental preparation beforehand, I wasn't distracted too much. The photographer was also very patient in helping me adjust the position of the shawl and wig to guarantee that sliding hair strands wouldn't block my facial contours.
The red coat material carries a certain sheen, so under the indoor lighting of an overcast convention day, it can instead present a relatively soft rim light, an effect that looks highly textured in close-up shots. Post-production primarily involved basic skin tone and shadow adjustments, without using too many filters to alter the texture of the original colors, hoping to present a relatively clean 2D daily life style. Overall, this set of shoots focuses on a sense of relaxation and the unity of character impression, hoping everyone can experience the unique atmosphere of combining this outfit coordination with the convention scene through these photos.
