[Yunli cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Live at the Beijing Anime Convention miHoYo Only

The convention photos from the Beijing Anime Convention miHoYo Only doujin event are finally sorted out! This time I chose to cosplay Yunli from Honkai: Star Rail. The crop top waist cutout and the metallic bell details at the waist, combined with that strikingly vibrant red cape behind my back, delivered fantastic reflections and dimensional layering under the indoor venue lighting.

For full-body shots, I selected the compositions in Photos 3 and 4. In fact, this combination of a miniskirt and crop top places pretty high demands on core and waist definition, so I specifically adjusted my routine and diet before heading out to stay in top shape. However, walking the convention floor all day racks up a massive step count, and the canonical shoes would definitely blister my feet, so I cleverly swapped them for the chunky platform white-and-red sneakers shown in the photos. Paired with the white skirt hem and cyan wave motifs, it actually created a unique athletic mashup vibe that felt super comfortable to wear all day without fatigue.

The bronze-gold head crown and blue beads were especially tricky to fasten; to keep them from tilting during photos and movement, I spent quite a while adjusting them with bobby pins and adhesive. The two straight black wig locks were layered and trimmed to drape along the sides, subtly framing my face. The photographer for this shoot captured the lighting masterfully: the overhead strip lights in the hall rimmed my hair and shoulders with luminous highlights, making my complexion appear clean and translucent, while the purplish-blue backdrop tones complemented the subject beautifully for Cosplay photography.

The atmosphere at the miHoYo Only doujin convention was genuinely fantastic, filled with characters from across the miHoYo universe, and photographing each other was such a blast. I really love Yunli's straightforward, candid personality, so in my expressions I didn't force any delicate coyness, striving instead to maintain a spirited and relaxed state. The hand gestures in Photos 3 and 4 were completely spontaneous on my part without overthinking, yet the final frames turned out wonderfully natural and lively.

This costume has numerous highlights in craft and design—such as the deep purple paneling on the sleeves, the cloud-wave motifs along the skirt hem, and the long yellow tassels cascading from the waist that sway dynamically with every step. Heading to anime conventions is physically tiring, but cosplaying a beloved character, immersing myself in her persona, and connecting with friendly photographers and passionate fans makes the entire journey immensely fun.

While indoor convention lighting is complex and snapshots can occasionally suffer from glare or overexposure, during retouching I preserved the fabric's authentic texture without excessive skin-smoothing, mainly restoring the innate vitality of Yunli's outfit in Honkai: Star Rail. The venue's large architectural pillars were also integrated into the composition, showcasing the subject while keeping the background balanced. I'm thoroughly pleased with the overall fidelity of this live shoot.
