For this Velina look, I made several refinements to the hair and makeup details. First, the facial makeup: to complement the elven ear design, I selected cool-toned purple eyeshadow paired with blue contact lenses, striving to cultivate an ethereal visual aura. Blush was applied beneath the eyes toward the upper cheekbones, and I deliberately added a beauty mark on the right cheek to introduce realism and distinctive personality. For the base makeup, I chose a matte-finish foundation to prevent excessive shine under intense studio lights. For the wig, the white hair was trimmed with full, blunt bangs and topped with a white hairband. The elongated elf ear props required meticulous positioning to ensure they blended flush against the wig edges without looking out of place—a step that took considerable time on site at the convention.
The high-collar neckpiece is one of the standout highlights of this ensemble: the crisp white standing collar features three rows of cylindrical gold studs, paired with a pleated brown neckerchief underneath to create rich visual layers. The main garment features blue-and-white stripes, with silver chains connecting the shoulders and chest to infuse a strong metallic edge into the overall design. The glove details were equally vital: the white gloves are outlined with dark trim, accented by blue triangular geometric patterns across the backs of the hands.
The prop for this shoot was a white folding fan with an expansive spread, bordered in blue trim and decorated with alternating yellow and blue diamond motifs across the interior leaf. To make the fan appear dimensional in the frame, I paid close attention to wrist angles and finger tension. After getting the prop, I compared photos taken from various angles and discovered that tilting the fan slightly while positioning it just below the cheek not only revealed the fan's full profile, but also formed a compositional dialogue with the metallic studs at my neck.
The location was set in a well-lit indoor space where natural background bokeh cleanly highlighted the subject. To align with this Creator Incentive Program theme, I did plenty of homework on the styling prior to shooting. From garment dressing order to prop angles, everything underwent multiple test shots and refinements. As a cosplayer, I have always believed that character fidelity lies far beyond merely piling on clothes—it hinges on polishing the nuances, such as the beauty mark by the eye, the specular sheen on the neckpiece, and the grip on the folding fan, all of which are pivotal in anchoring the character's texture.
Wearing this outfit proved more complex than anticipated: while the high-collar design looks striking, I had to ensure my neck didn't grow stiff during breaks to avoid distorting the collar line. Handling the fan with white gloves also demanded extra care to prevent creasing that might compromise the visuals. Overall, anchored in white, blue, and gold with cool-toned makeup, the look achieved a crisp, clean aesthetic. Although the preparation was tedious and wearing elf ears for hours caused slight discomfort, seeing these intricate design elements clearly rendered in the final photos made every bit of groundwork truly worthwhile. I hope this Velina styling offers some creative hair and makeup inspiration to everyone.
