Bringing this Zenless Zone Zero Velina styling to life took nearly two months from initial preparation to the final shoot. Today I can finally share all the behind-the-scenes details of this set with you.

Garment texture was my top priority. The top was crafted from deep navy fabric with a subtle sheen, lined with stiff buckram interfacing to preserve the crisp structure of the stand-up collar, accented with metallic gold buttons for a refined finish. The most grueling piece, however, was the black leather waist corset: to contour closely to bodily curves, I fine-tuned the lacing tension beforehand to ensure it sculpted the waistline without cutting off breathing. Cutouts along the shoulders and neckline formed the visual centerpieces of the garment, but they also demanded extreme anti-exposure precautions—I had to double-check every ten minutes to ensure the white underlayer hadn't shifted out of place.

The wig and makeup also required substantial time. To recreate her short ice-blue hair, I layered and thinned the bangs in advance, while the single long braid atop the crown took repeated sculpting with hair wax and hard-hold spray to stay locked in position. Purple contact lenses lent the eyes a cool detachment, complemented by the tear beauty mark below the eye to heighten character recognition. The Elf ears and golden crescent moon earrings were worn directly; though slightly heavy, the slight discomfort was completely negligible in exchange for character fidelity.

In terms of props, that white Folding fan accented with blue and yellow geometric motifs was an absolute standout. The fan ribs possessed excellent weight and balance, requiring a deft snap of the wrist to unfurl smoothly. During the shoot, I continually explored how to hold it with both grace and organic ease—sometimes partially masking the face, sometimes resting it gently before the torso—aligning every angle with the photographer's key light.

The location was an indoor studio furnished with an ornate carved European sofa and plush white faux-fur throws, decorated with blue-and-white floral arrangements and birdcages to cultivate an aloof, vintage ambiance. To highlight her poised and enigmatic aura, I experimented with varied poses. Seated postures formed the core of the session: coordinating striped White stockings with lace-trimmed safety shorts elongated the lines of the legs before the camera. However, leg positioning required vigilance—the slightest deviation or drift toward the frame's edge would distort the composition. The lighting technician utilized high-key soft light, granting the final frames a wonderfully clear, luminous transparency.

In portraying this character, I continually reflected on her inner psychology. Beneath that meticulous, somewhat rigid adherence to proper etiquette lies an intensely self-assured core. When meeting the lens, I deliberately tilted my chin slightly upward while casting my gaze downward, striving to capture that effortless, unflappable composure.

There was also an amusing behind-the-scenes moment: because securing the skirt and belt was quite intricate, shifting sitting postures caused the side tassels and metal chains to tangle repeatedly. To capture that candid glance back while wielding the fan, the photographer fired dozens of frames in quick succession as I micro-adjusted my chin angle before the reflector board for flawless light and shadow. While indoor studio shoots spare you from wind and sun, moving and resting while geared up in this complete ensemble is still exhausting. Behind every effortless-looking frame lies continuous posture recalibration, wardrobe adjustment, and angle coordination. Immense gratitude goes out to the entire crew for their seamless collaboration—from lighting to set dressing, everyone poured incredible effort into this. Velina was an entirely fresh departure for me, deepening my understanding of cosplay through both costume execution and character temperament.
