This photoshoot series captures Vesna cosplay set against the backdrop of Genshin Impact's Snezhnaya, embracing Anime-style photography. To present the character's elegance and composure in a realm of ice and snow, we put significant effort into set design and lighting. The layering of the costume is exceptionally rich; the classic palette of blue, white, and gold, paired with a white plush fur shawl over the shoulders, yielded outstanding texture on camera. To faithfully match the character design, I wore pointed elf ears and a wavy, pale-blonde long wig with light-blue highlights, while the blue gemstones on the headpiece refracted delicate sparkles of light under illumination.
The shooting location was a vintage-inspired indoor studio space. I believe the essence of this outfit lies in showcasing its details. For instance, the metallic gems across the chest, the gold trim on the cuffs and hemline, and the geometric accents at the waist all required excellent lighting to truly stand out. Afternoon natural light filtered through white sheer curtains onto the vintage sofa, creating a very soft diffuse reflection. I deliberately asked the photographer to take advantage of these natural light flecks using side-backlight angles. This not only contoured my silhouette, but also cast a gorgeous soft halo along the edges of the fur collar. For metering and exposure, a white reflector was used for fill light to prevent shadows on my face, ensuring natural skin tones and the refreshing blue tones of the dress itself.
In terms of pose design, I explored diverse postures to display the character's varied facets. Sitting on the sofa holding a delicate teacup looked very leisurely and relaxed; this angle also happened to showcase the dress's high side slit paired with White stockings and white over-the-knee boots, visually elongating leg lines. When switching to the silver longsword prop, my stance needed to be upright and core engaged to channel the sharpness of a warrior. The sword's golden crossguard and silver blade demanded precise lighting; I adjusted angles multiple times before capturing that cold, crisp metallic sheen. Later on, I donned translucent elf wings and picked up a staff adorned with blue gems and ribbon bows, infusing a whimsical fantasy touch into the scene filled with flowers and antique furniture.
The entire shoot took several hours from setup to wrap-up, with costume adjustments and pose directing taking up a large chunk of time. Because the outfit design is quite intricate, putting it on, taking it off, and arranging it required help from an assistant. In particular, the fur-collared shawl and over-the-knee boots needed constant readjustment throughout the long shoot to maintain visual neatness in the frame. But seeing the perfect moments frozen in light and shadow made all the hard work feel completely worthwhile. These photos not only document the character's appearance, but also preserve the joyful atmosphere of that day. I hope this photoshoot allows everyone to feel the character's distinct charm.
