Today's custom Rem styling is mainly adjusted based on the classic blue-and-white color scheme. To fit the cat theme, I specially paired it with white fluffy cat ears, ensuring they blend into the pure white background while maintaining layering. The wig uses a bright blue medium-short hair with straight bangs, and a slender light-colored hairclip is pinned to the side to restore the iconic bangs styling. In terms of makeup, because it was shot against a pure white background, high-key lighting can make the face look somewhat flat, so I intensified the layering of the eye makeup, wore bright blue contact lenses to echo the hair color, and used a large area of pink blush under the eyes to increase the sense of innocence. At the same time, I reduced the area of lip makeup to strengthen the two-dimensional attribute, allowing the face to maintain a three-dimensional feel under strong light.
The costume details are relatively complex, adopting a large amount of lace and ruffle elements. The top is a short crop-top design with bubble sleeves made of transparent sheer gauze material. To increase layering, I paired it with a pearl necklace and a heart-shaped pendant. The lower body is designed as a skort, paired with white over-the-knee thigh-high stockings, where the lace trim at the sock opening echoes the clothes. The transparent sheer gauze wristbands on the wrists are also designed to add an overall sense of lightness from the details. When confirming the styling, I paid special attention to the reflectivity of various materials to ensure they wouldn't look cheap under studio lighting, allowing the see-through feel of the gauze and the texture of the lace to be clearly presented in front of the lens.
During the shoot, to create a clean and pure atmosphere, a pure white seamless background paper was chosen. Although high-key lighting can make the character's skin look fair, it's also easy to make the frame lose its three-dimensionality, so I enriched the light and shadow of the frame through body movements and clothing wrinkles. For example, sitting on the ground with legs crossed—this posture can well showcase the texture of the white stockings and leg lines, while elongating the body shape through arm support; sitting on a round platform lifting both legs to mimic cat movements aims to increase dynamism and curve changes in a static image, showing a playful feeling. The sideways sitting and looking back posture can showcase the tailoring of the back waistline, while eye contact can make the frame more narrative. When shooting these actions, it is necessary to constantly adjust the position of the center of gravity to ensure the posture is relaxed and natural, avoiding stiffness.
In terms of props, exquisite teacups and saucers with gold rims and white bases were used, cooperating with several different sitting postures and viewing angles, attempting to present a casual afternoon tea feeling. Actions like holding the cup to taste or placing both fists on the sides of the head can convey different emotions. As a custom concept attempt, this styling retains the character's own traits while incorporating some of my own understanding of the cat-girl style. Through the coordination of clothing materials, makeup adjustments, and shooting angles, I hope to bring everyone a character presentation that is both familiar and carries a touch of novelty. Although this shoot was completed in a simple studio, through the control of actions and details, it still achieved the expected visual effect.
