[Vivian Cosplay] Shadow of Zenless Zone Zero: Strolling with an Umbrella

This shoot took place in an indoor retro staircase setting. The carved wooden handrails and marble steps brought a touch of elegance that paired seamlessly with Vivian's black-and-white Gothic dress, instantly elevating the atmosphere. The wig features lavender long curls with layered styling, which, combined with elf ear prosthetics for the Purple-haired elf vibe, delivered a character recreation I'm personally very happy with.

For the costume, the white lantern-sleeve top's cuffs are detailed with silver rivets. The corset waist seal is made of black leather with three metal buckles, creating a very pronounced waist-cinching effect. The outer layer of the skirt has an asymmetrical irregular cut with pointed hemline edges that sway gracefully as I walk, lined by a white mini skirt underneath. The black tights on my legs and platform black heels serve as a key visual anchor for this look, elongating body proportions while preserving that authentic dark aesthetic.

Holding this massive umbrella in hand really tested balance during the Cosplay photography session. The shaft is metal, while the canopy features purple and black wave patterns centered around a huge floral totem, giving it considerable physical weight. To prevent my arms from looking stiff while holding the umbrella, I repeatedly adjusted my grip angle and elbow bend, settling on a few different two-handed and single-handed stances. The front-facing standing pose in the third photo turned out best for showcasing both the garment's silhouette and the umbrella's complete shape.

Regarding lighting, soft natural light poured in from the rear-side windows, creating gentle highlights on my hair and outfit, while shadows settled naturally around the skirt edges for a clean composition. I didn't force overly exaggerated facial expressions, opting instead for a cool, aloof demeanor that aligns with the character's temperament. Dressing and equipping everything took quite some time—especially securing the waist belt and cuff ornaments—but seeing the final shots made the whole process worth it.

In terms of character details, I've always believed prop and fabric quality are paramount. The printed patterns on the umbrella and the texture of the skirt fabric were chosen to faithfully capture the lore's Gothic dress elements. If I have another chance to shoot this, I might try more dynamic movements, like spinning the umbrella or capturing candid moments walking up and down stairs. While these direct shots are relatively straightforward, the synergy between environment and props worked out nicely, and I'm quite satisfied with the outcome. Looking through them again during post-processing, aside from minor lighting tweaks for certain angles, the overall tone and dark, elegant ambiance of the outfit hit the mark perfectly.
