[Hifumi cosplay] Blue Archive's Sunny Day Declaration: Ordinary Daily Life in a Sailor Suit

The subject of this shoot is Hifumi from Blue Archive, with the seaside chosen as the primary location. The scenery of both the yacht marina and the breakwater matched this outfit exceptionally well. For the costume, I selected a Sailor suit paired with a white cardigan, featuring a bright yellow bowtie and lace trim on the skirt for a refreshing overall color scheme. Paired with black tights and a pleated skirt, it satisfied the character's signature design requirements. For makeup and styling, amber-colored contact lenses and reddish-brown eye makeup were used to accentuate the character's gentle gaze. The hairstyle featured blonde twin tails with bangs, and with the halo effect added in post-production, the character's complete image truly came to life.

Cosplaying this character has always been something I wanted to do, especially because I love the story segment of the Sunny Day Declaration. On the day of the shoot, we specifically picked a sunny afternoon with ample natural light to capture the glistening sparkles across the ocean surface. During the shoot, that little white plush bird served as a wonderful partner; holding it in hand or positioning it slightly in front of the frame made poses feel much more natural and relaxed. Because coastal sunlight can be harsh, we brought reflectors to adjust the angle of facial illumination and keep the skin tone looking clear and translucent. In post-processing, we adjusted the contrast of the sky and distant boats in the background to achieve better depth separation between the subject and the scene. The black tights and white cardigan created a crisp light-and-dark contrast under the sunlight, looking remarkably clean.

As a long-time enthusiast of Cosplay photography and cosplay, I feel that every careful dressing-up is a process of rediscovering and understanding the character. It's not just about faithfully recreating the costume and makeup—pairing them with the right environment is essential to capturing the desired atmosphere. The Sailor suit and white cardigan flowed beautifully during walking and dynamic movements, and the delicate lace details of the skirt hem were preserved nicely. The beauty of outdoor location shoots lies in this uncontrollable spontaneity—like random passersby at the pier or sudden sea breezes tousling the hair, all of which feel genuine. In the photos taken on the breakwater, sitting or standing while holding the bird plushie as sunlight filtered through the clouds, the atmospheric mood was fully realized. Recording these seaside moments is also a nice little step forward in improving my photography and modeling craft. When styling the Sailor suit, the cuff tailoring and the bowtie knotting were kept as close to the original design as possible. The coastal tetrapods are classic outdoor elements; sitting on them for full-body shots perfectly brought out the texture of the Black stockings cosplay. For such slice-of-life uniform settings, choosing the right weather and backdrop is key. Open settings like seaside piers and marinas ensure clean garment silhouettes. The afternoon sea breeze added a bit of messy charm to the hair, which felt far more vivid than rigid posing. The cardigan was a structured knit paired with a lighter inner layer, preventing overheating during hours outdoors. Blue oceans paired with predominantly white clothing leave a thoroughly refreshing impression. This is the exact ordinary everyday state I wanted to convey through this Hifumi cosplay, and I hope to share that heartwarming slice-of-life feeling with everyone.
