[Quanxi Cosplay] The First Devil Hunter, Drawing the Blade in the Dark Night

At the Endless Anime Convention held at Beijing Beitou Shopping Park this time, I finally completed the cosplay shoot for Quanxi from Chainsaw Man. For this character known as the First Devil Hunter, everything from her temperament to her styling was quite challenging. To recreate the cold and intensely oppressive aura of the character, a lot of effort was put into the wig and makeup this time. The silver-gray single side long ponytail paired with a black lace eyepatch served as the absolute visual core; I adjusted the position and tying method of the eyepatch multiple times to ensure that unruly yet alert expression was captured in front of the lens.

For clothing, I chose a black sleeveless dress with a high slit, intentionally selecting a fabric with a good drape. Combined with waist and side cinch designs, it highlights the body contour well. On my hands were black lace half-finger long gloves with complex eyelets and lace-up designs, making for a dark gothic-style ensemble. The legs featured sheer black stockings, visually elongating the lines. The glossy black stiletto heels with red-sole elements on my feet were the key to guaranteeing a strong aura; although my feet truly ached after standing for a long time, this small sacrifice was worth it to capture that cold, sharp combat posture.

The weapon in my hand was a katana prop modified from wooden materials. Though made of wood, after painting and texture treatments, it felt just right in hand, so when striking poses like drawing or resting the sword on my shoulder, it didn't look flimsy at all. As for the cigarette held in my mouth in the close-up photos, it was purely a prop used to make the visuals better fit the character's lazy and indifferent state on the battlefield. Here I must solemnly add a disclaimer: smoking is harmful to health, and minors should never imitate this behavior.

The ceiling of the location had rows of white strip lights, and this cool-toned illumination fit the character's dark backstory setting perfectly. The lighting contrast on site was strong, making it easy to outline the character's silhouette. The shooting environment at a convention venue is actually quite chaotic; to get clean and pure images, the photographer and I looked for several relatively open corners in the hall, using wide apertures and angle adjustments to avoid crowd noise and background clutter in convention photos.

During the shoot, we tried several different pose designs. For example, the photo of kneeling on one knee while resting the sword on my shoulder captured that moment of quiet readiness during a calm patrol; the photos sitting on the black folding chair showed her usual nonchalant and casual side. The high-slit skirt paired with black stockings displayed leg lines very well in both sitting and standing positions, and these details played a big role in creating the character's aura. I hope through these convention photos, everyone can see a Quanxi cosplay that closely fits the original atmosphere.
