[Yao cosplay] Honor of Kings Wish of Time: Spring Fairytale Charm and Ethereal Grace in White Stockings

Shooting this Yao cosplay set for the Wish of Time skin from Honor of Kings was primarily about capturing the character's nimble, dynamic essence in the studio. To harmonize with the Wish of Time theme, the mint-green wig and oversized pink bow formed the visual core of the styling; the cut and silhouette were shaped with full volume to keep head-to-body proportions looking balanced.

On the outfit, the outermost sheer blue four-leaf clover tulle tends to cling, so maintaining its fluffiness required repeated adjustments to the petticoat before shooting. Combined with the heart-shaped waist pendant and shoulder bows, it achieved a far more balanced visual center. The wings are crafted from translucent materials; to ensure stability while standing, keeping the back straight was essential to minimize deformation along the edges of the wings under physical strain.

Because the design features a high-waisted, bouffant silhouette, I tested diverse poses throughout the session. Actions like single-leg leaps and standing side kicks were mainly designed to showcase the contours of the legs and White stockings on camera. Pointing the instep and engaging the core during single-leg balances expanded the spread of the skirt hem while making the leg lines appear longer and more slender. Angling the staff prop took careful deliberation as well—tilting the grip slightly created smoother lines without obscuring the face.

For studio lighting, to highlight the sweetness of the mint green and pink combination, high-key diffuse lighting was primarily utilized to bring out the translucent texture of the White stockings and sheer dress. The pairing of White stockings with Mary Jane shoes yielded the perfect amount of soft reflection, avoiding harsh, chalky whites and instead imparting a radiant, youthful glow. Post-processing focused on faithfully preserving the floral accents on the fabric and natural skin tones, avoiding excessive skin smoothing in favor of retaining fair skin undertones and luminous highlights gleaming across the tulle.

All in all, this ensemble achieved exceptional completeness, rich in detail from headpieces and wig down to the staff, shoes, and legwear. From every perspective, it radiates that dreamy, sweet 2D charm.
