[Venti cosplay] The Anemo Archon's Story Behind the "Ehe" Meme

This time I cosplayed Venti from Genshin Impact. For the shoot, we chose a time with high clouds and wide open water; the natural light was exceptionally flattering to costume details, fully bringing out the texture of the golden trim on the black cape and the white lily decorations under the sunlight. To capture that free-spirited feeling of the Anemo Archon, I deliberately chose several open-arm poses, swapping between the wand and the black cross prop to showcase the character's dynamic gap appeal. Among them, the photo holding a small yellow book printed with "Ehe" is the one I feel best showcases his personality. While the cross carries a solemn undertone, pairing it with that playful "Ehe" perfectly fits Venti's adorable habit of slacking off and being shamelessly proud of it. The black cross was actually composited in post-processing; on set, I held a black cuboid prop instead, creating a stronger contrast against the blue sky and white clouds.

The post-processing focus was all about texture—I carefully preserved shadow details on the black clothing rather than simply crushing the blacks to hide flaws, emphasizing the drape of the fabric instead. Doing outdoor photography in such windy weather was quite a challenge. The long wig tangled easily in the wind, and the costume was fairly heavy. Fortunately, several friends helped with lighting and reflectors; our seamless teamwork allowed us to catch those naturally flowing moments in the breeze. Each time I raised a prop, I had to keep my arm extended without shrugging my shoulders to avoid looking stiff. When the wind blew, timing the gentle sway of the wig was key to capturing that airy, fluttering motion. The makeup leaned clean and translucent, with a subtle blue gradient on the lower eyelids to echo the hair color, keeping the look cohesive. A refreshing setting paired with clean styling creates the best harmony.

Because the "Ehe" meme and contrasting elements were so fun, besides the photos, I also drew an adorable chibi meme based on this styling—the image in the final slide, labeled "A-Wen," looking extra cute and goofy. Comparing real photos to chibi art gives two completely different vibes: the cosplay photoshoot preserves a formal presence, while the chibi meme perfectly maintains the character's playful everyday charm. This photo set serves as a brief summary of the shoot and my personal take on the character.
