[Ganyu Cosplay] Genshin Impact's Blue-Haired Qilin, the Reflection Moment Under a Quiet Atmosphere

This Ganyu look has been brewing for a while from conception to implementation, and taking the opportunity of participating in the Genshin Impact Creator Incentive Program this time, I finally realized it. The shooting theme this time did not deliberately pursue a grand sense of combat or mythology, but rather wanted to stay close to the character's own quiet, cool temperament, while blending in a bit of casually deconstructed visual language.

First, let's talk about the costume, makeup, and hair this time. To fit the setting of a half-illuminated beast, the main color palette selected a large amount of white, light gray, and cold blue. The overshirt on the body adopts a layered stack of semi-transparent stiff tulle, which has a luster akin to jellyfish or glacial refraction under the light. That black and red color-clashing pair of horns on the head uses a black matte material on the outside to close the silhouette, while the inside is embellished with vibrant red, paired with that small white flower at the root to maintain character recognition while balancing the visual defocus brought by cold tones. The wig selected ice blue, and was specially processed to be fluffy and a bit messy, which fits her usual relaxed appearance. The pearls and waterdrop-shaped necklace on the neck increase the overall elegance and exquisite refinement.

Let's talk about the shooting scene this time. The ground was laid with a large amount of highly reflective silver film, which was to simulate the effect of ocean reflection or ancient magical weapon reflection. I was directly lying or sitting on top of it when shooting; to be honest, I was quite worried about crushing those heavily layered tulles of the clothes at the beginning, but the final shot effect was indeed very dreamy. Cooperating with the white retro carved birdcage placed nearby, scattered pearl necklaces, and that blue and black butterfly ornament, the sense of layering of the entire frame is exceptionally rich. White roses and blue hydrangeas interweave at the edges of the frame, letting the cold environment have a touch of softness.

Regarding postures and lens scheduling, no overly complex standing poses were deliberately made this time, but rather a large adoption of lying down, bending knees, and side-lying actions that are more private and relaxed. Especially that composition of a seated knee-bend pose displays the white cross-straps on the legs and that pair of white high heels with butterfly bows, which not only elongates the overall visual of the legs but also lets the frame have a bit more playful and lazy vibe. In the horizontal screen state, the birdcage on the left and the butterfly on the right form a balance, while the mirror reflection of the ground presents a secondary rendering of both the character and props, possessing a wondrous visual experience of top-to-bottom symmetry.

In terms of expressing the character, I did not rigidly apply her usual workaholic or serious side, but tried to showcase her inner soft, cute, quiet, and even occasionally slightly confused traits through this flat and relaxed body language. The makeup also focused on emphasizing the clear and translucent feel of the eyes, selecting blue-system contact lenses to make the gaze look more agile. The character design of Genshin Impact has always been famous for being delicate and full; as a cosplayer, besides replicating the charm, if one can add a bit of their own understanding and environmental fusion, the shot photos often have unexpectedly moving parts.

This piece of work is actually also an attempt regarding 'self-dialogue,' communicating with the photographer for a long time about the boundaries of colors and composition. I hope everyone likes this interpretation method with a slightly cool and dreamy undertone. Different from running around in wild large scenes, this partial, immersive display among still life can also capture that unique temperament of Ganyu from Genshin Impact. Although this set of photos had many early props and tedious preparations, seeing the final photos made me feel all the hard work was totally worth it.
