Not gluing down the sideburns was honestly the biggest regret of this photo set. Without trimming and gluing the sideburns of this silvery-gray wig against my face, looking straight into the camera really makes my face look round. Even with this minor regret, I still put my heart into adjusting this Genshin Impact Lynette Cosplay Mirror selfie set.
This time, I cosplayed Lynette from Genshin Impact, a character that perfectly fits the magic cat setting in my heart. To express that mysterious yet adorable young lady aura, I chose this blue-and-black dress. The bright blue oversized bow on the chest is the most eye-catching visual centerpiece of the entire outfit, paired with brown ribbons to make the color layering much richer. The skirt hem features gold triangle ornaments and blue plaid accents; these subtle details require high fidelity to the original design.
To look better proportioned in the photos, posture is crucial during a Mirror selfie. Since space in the mirror is limited, and tall boots combined with black Stockings naturally create visual extension, I deliberately shifted my center of gravity to my back leg, angled my body slightly, and pointed my toes to elongate the leg lines. Even though it's framed from a mirror perspective, I tried to keep every detail cohesive—like the positioning of the sheer black Stockings and leg garter, as well as the shine of those glossy black tall boots under the lights.
For this character's styling, I specifically wore grey Animal ears to add some playful feline charm. Since the sideburns weren't glued down, I had to rely on camera angles during the shoot to mask it. The entire shoot was done completely on my own in front of the full-length mirror at home; to ensure the framing wasn't too off-center, the phone camera needed a slight tilt. The first half-body photo mainly aimed to showcase the chest bow details and the black, white, and blue palette of the upper body, though the composition felt slightly cramped. The second full-body photo effectively highlighted the tall boots, Stockings, and overall body proportions; personally, I feel its overall visual balance is better.
Regarding retouching, I didn't do complex post-processing this time, mainly to preserve an authentic Mirror selfie atmosphere, only lightly unifying the tones so the cooler palette better matches Lynette's demeanor. Although the hairstyle made my face appear a bit rounder, it didn't diminish my love for this costume in the slightest—standing in front of the mirror admiring myself in black Stockings and tall boots felt amazing. While sorting through these photos, I also reflected on areas where my Mirror selfie skills could improve, like styling and setting the sideburns with glue in advance next time to contour my face better. The raw, authentic experience of this cosplay was very rewarding; I gave it my best to capture the elegance and mystery of a magician cat, and I hope my posture and styling stay true to the character's original setting.
