[Viego Cosplay] Ever-Lost Love: The Chilling Stance of Ruin

From initial concept to final realization, a lot of thought went into this outfit, and I finally got the chance to fully present it at the Changsha ACC Anime Convention. Regarding photography, massive thanks to WiFi—in such a crowded venue, he utilized natural daylight alongside large overhead light arrays to darken the cluttered convention center crowd, perfectly capturing the texture of the entire gear with a chilling tone.

Starting with the prop everyone is most curious about—this cyan-blue greatsword was a major hurdle. To achieve a translucent visual effect with sharp edges, we custom-ordered special reflective materials paired with multi-layer spray painting. The sword is extremely long, about 1.6 meters, so carrying it around the exhibition hall was definitely a physical workout. However, to convey the character's broken yet proud sense of oppression, I gritted my teeth and powered through. The barbs and ring blade design near the hilt were also a huge test during assembly; luckily, despite various accidental bumps and incidents at the venue, the sword suffered no fractures or paint chipping, giving me immense confidence to execute dynamic, sweeping poses.

For the outfit, we chose highly reflective black glossy leather. To stay true to the character design, the exposed chest and abdomen area served as the visual core of this hair and makeup setup. When finalizing the plan, we specifically referenced the original artwork proportions, adjusting shoulder width and leather jacket tailoring so that the inverted triangle chest ornament aligned perfectly with the top of the abdominal muscles. Paired with a silver-white wig and heavy smoky eye makeup, the overall look creates a sickly yet sharp intensity. Wearing it was actually quite challenging—the tension from the props and leather clothing occasionally restricted my joints, and with the venue's AC running low, exposing my core meant I had to keep my abdominal muscles tensed constantly without a moment's relaxation.

A lot of effort also went into the wig. Rather than styling it sleek and smooth, we kept a bit of messy volume to mirror the character's unkempt, decadent, and shattered state after experiencing tragedy. For the makeup, focus was placed on the eye area—a cool pale foundation muted my skin tone while dark eyeshadow extended the eye contours, ensuring my gaze looked sufficiently sharp on camera. Combined with the cool-toned cyan-blue thorn crown, it created a subtle visual alienation from the surroundings, even amidst the chaotic lighting of the convention hall.

Speaking of the shooting process, convention photos are actually much harder than studio shoots. With people coming and going, strong light through glass curtain walls often creates harsh half-shadows on the face. Photographer WiFi skillfully utilized backlight and side-backlight from the floor-to-ceiling windows, using a wide aperture to blur out distant crowds and booths while filling in facial shadows with our reflector board, perfectly preserving the deep intensity of the eye makeup. In these photos, I attempted various poses—swinging the sword, resting it on my shoulder, and holding it across my body—hoping to convey that lonely, chilling, and slightly unhinged atmosphere through body language.

Participating in a convention is always a double test of stamina and mindset. Wearing the equipment from early morning until the end was undeniably exhausting. However, meeting players on-site who recognized the cosplay setup or hearing people discuss the texture of the gear brought a sense of validation that made all the hard work worthwhile. The experience at Changsha ACC this time was wonderful—thanks to all the friends who came over for photos and chats! I hope everyone can feel the unique charm of this character through these convention photos. As a cosplayer dedicated to details, materializing my passion in this way is intrinsically cool.
