[Saiba Momoi Cosplay] Vibrant Moments in Blue Archive, Effortlessly Recording the Guangzhou Anime Convention Outdoor Shoot

The convention photos from the 2nd Black Dragonfly D2 are finally sorted out. This time I shot Saiba Momoi, a very lively and cute character. This set of outdoor photos was taken in the surrounding venues of the Guangzhou Anime Convention. The weather was great; the soft light of the overcast day was actually perfect for this crisp outfit.

To restore the character's state, a lot of thought went into the clothing coordination this time. For the jacket, a light purple and white color-blocked sports windbreaker was selected, its texture matching the character's daily dynamic feel, and the thick fur collar lining not only provided warmth but also added a rounded look to the upper body. The lower body consisted of black tight leggings, paired on the outside with a pair of grey platform Martin boots with white plush edges. This choice of shoes was excellent; the platform added height without looking clumsy, making the overall proportions look highly coordinated. The accuracy of the accessories was also well executed—the pink and black cat ears, the iconic pink spiked halo, and that black cat tail with ringed textures, along with the red bow hair scrunchie on the head and pink gloves; each small item carried full details.

The light gold straight-bangs low twin-tails wig was also an important part of the styling. When styling it, special attention needed to be paid to the breathability of the bangs to avoid blocking the eyes. The red bow hair scrunchie served as an excellent accent within the light hair color, preventing the hairstyle from looking too monotonous.

During the shoot, to capture that unique playful yet cute temperament of the character, we tried poses from many different angles. These included a forward-leaning posture resting hands on knees, a standing pose with both fists propping up the cheeks, even a crouching pose imitating a cat clawing at the air, and a dynamic snapshot standing on one foot with arms spread wide. It must be said that the one-legged standing shot heavily tested my sense of balance; especially when encountering a gentle breeze outdoors, the core had to be tightened to ensure the screen's center of gravity remained stable. This dynamic snapshot highly relies on the photographer's on-the-spot reaction and anticipation of the shutter timing.

In addition to the full-body dynamic poses, I particularly liked that half-body side profile close-up, with a hand placed at the collar and eyes looking slightly to the side. This slightly quieter expression formed a contrast with the previous lively movements, showcasing a potentially more serene side of the character. When shooting close-ups, the photographer's capture of the eye catchlight was spot on; even under diffused light environments, the eyes remained very bright. In terms of makeup, it went for a fresh and breathable route, paired with light-colored contacts and pink lip makeup, keeping consistent with the overall outfit's color scheme.

Regarding the choice of shooting location, we mainly utilized the stone railings of an outdoor pedestrian bridge as the foreground and background, which, paired with the texture of the stone bricks, created a clean and minimalist urban street feel. The blurred modern architecture in the back and the lamppost on the left formed excellent layering in the out-of-focus areas, enhancing the frame's sense of space. The outdoor natural light made the fabric's reflective surfaces look very natural, and the pink suspended halo still remained highly saturated under outdoor natural light, serving as an excellent visual anchor for this Outdoor photography set.

Actually, every time a final cosplay set is produced, from preparing props to communicating creative ideas with the photographer, and then to repeated adjustments on-site, the process is always a bit tedious. I still remember on the day of the shoot, there were quite a few convention attendees and passersby nearby, and occasionally I could hear people recognizing the character and discussing in low voices. That exact moment of being recognized makes one feel highly encouraged, which also amplified the shooting enthusiasm for the day. The breathability of this costume's fabric was decent, making it very suitable for an outdoor location look—neither too stuffy nor restrictive when opening up to perform movements.

Finally, when selecting images, I compared different perspectives and felt each one had its own unique flavor—some were half-body close-ups suitable for avatars, while others were full-body shots that could display the complete structure. The post-processing did not use exaggerated filter treatments; instead, it preserved the softness of the entire frame and the original color layering of the clothes. I hope this set of convention photos allows everyone to feel the bright, cheerful, and vibrant vibe of this character.
