Part 3 of the Convention photos from the Northern Border Comic Convention is finally here! To be completely honest, sitting in front of my screen typing these words right now, I can still feel the lingering fatigue from that intense grind.
Shooting 68 sets in four hours might sound completely exaggerated, but that was my genuine reality at this Shenyang Northern Border Comic Convention. The collection released today encompasses three starkly distinct aesthetics. The first three shots showcase an ethereal Ancient style cosplay look: the wig updo was remarkably intricate, weighed down by heavy metallic hairpins and inlaid jade that left my neck aching after a full day. The attire consisted of layered, gossamer sheer fabrics—gorgeous to look at, yet easily snagged—paired with a massive, translucent golden musical instrument prop. My fingers had to hold the strings continuously, sustaining that aloof, melancholic elegance in every single pose without a moment's lapse. Next was the Sci-fi style cosplay look featuring silver short hair; the metallic golden top gleamed under the stage lighting, paired with high-gloss black leggings. While these leggings accentuated leg length and silhouette, their breathability was minimal, feeling extremely tight during broader movements. To project combat tension, I gripped red gloves, cycling repeatedly through lunging and defensive stances. Following that came an exotic, midriff-baring orange ensemble adorned with golden chokers and bangles, topped with long bunny ears and crimson flowers; striking designated gestures made me feel as if I were taking flight, all while maintaining an alluring, enigmatic facial expression.
Every wardrobe swap, makeup touch-up, readjustment of wigs and colored contact lenses, coupled with scouting angles alongside photographers across packed convention halls, served as a dual test of physical stamina and endurance. Air circulation in the venue was poor, and smiling toward the camera wrapped in weighty wigs and multi-layered garments gave me a profound taste of being exhausted yet exhilarated. But after posting these live convention photos, I confronted a harsh reality: engagement on live hall shots simply cannot rival polished studio sets. Perhaps photos taken on convention floors, fraught with messy ambient lighting and background bystanders, feel less immaculate and lack intricate post-production visual effects. Yet I firmly believe these frames embody the fruits of our sweat; looking at the modest backend numbers, it would be untrue to say I wasn't disheartened—after all, behind every single picture lay four continuous hours of relentless hustle and perseverance in our Cosplay photography effort.
What gives me the biggest headache right now is that beyond the edited sets already published, I still have raw photos from over thirty photographers waiting to be processed and returned. Every time I open that folder filled with raw files, my vision goes dark, and part of me wants to escape. But a promise made must be kept; even if it means grinding through sleepless nights, I must conscientiously edit and finish this entire series. Sometimes I wonder why I took on so many photographer sessions at the convention, why I pushed myself so relentlessly. Perhaps it's because I truly adore this stage and cherish every fleeting moment of donning a character's garb to step into another soul. Grueling as the process was, seeing the finished results makes everything worthwhile.
I really need to wrap up this series soon; I truly dug myself a massive hole! In the days ahead, I'll keep battling within editing software—refining every sliver of light and shadow, buffing out every minor flaw—striving to deliver the remaining photos to all the photographers as soon as possible. Regardless of traffic or algorithmic reach, earnestly recording each cosplay role is an invaluable reward in itself. This collection embodies immense heart and soul, and I hope everyone viewing these Convention photos can feel the fiery passion we poured out across the convention floor.
