This cosplay of Gokou Ruri has actually been in preparation for a while. I had always wanted to find a unique setting to shoot it. The sea of flowers is crowded and hot during the day, so I thought it would be better to take advantage of the night to test the nighttime atmosphere. On the day of the shoot, I specially chose the evening, bringing along a transparent umbrella and a straw hat, aiming for that dreamlike tone where the flowers are gently illuminated by lights in the dark—mysterious yet gentle.

Regarding the styling, Gokou Ruri's iconic black-purple long hair was recreated using straight extensions with flat bangs. Paired with this simple white slip dress and a straw hat as an accent, the entire look exudes a summer night vibe. The transparent umbrella served as a crucial prop; during the night shoot, it reflected some ambient light to soften the atmosphere. Adding the cat ears as a final detail completed the full look.

The shooting location was Xianlu Island in Foshan. This sea of flowers actually displays much richer layers at night than during the day. The distant white buildings illuminated by lights resembled a glowing shrine, and with a touch of starry sky effects added to the background, the entire set of photos took on a fairy-tale edge. The night lighting relied mainly on portable fill lights, with the focus on illuminating the face while preserving the dark tones of the background, so the pinks and greens of the flowers wouldn't blur together. I intentionally captured several standing and sitting poses to freeze those lazy, casual expressions in the flower beds, as well as a few shots of holding my legs while daydreaming, trying my best to fit Kuroneko's tsundere yet slightly melancholy personality.

Although shooting the sea of flowers at night requires more attention to lighting ratios and focal lengths compared to daytime, and sometimes demands repeated parameter adjustments, seeing the light spots under the transparent umbrella and the beautiful background blur of the flowers in the final photos made all that time crouching in the bushes completely worth it. This set is one of my most satisfying recent night shoots, allowing me to experience being an anime girl in the summer night air. For those interested in photography in Guangzhou and its nearby spots, this location is a hidden gem. I hope the captured vibe gives friends who love this character a true sense of immersion through this session of Anime-style photography.
