Weaving through a modern metropolis on roller skates, the theme of today's set is precisely "On the Way to School." Years ago in the anime, seeing Sakura flying down the streets of Tomoeda on inline roller skates gave me a profound longing for that carefree daily life vibe. Taking advantage of the cool weather after the rain, I finally had the opportunity to completely replicate this vibrant scene on real city streets.

Restoring the full set of gear was the top priority for this shoot. This sailor suit with a white base and red neckerchief paired with a black pleated miniskirt is an everyday uniform, but to fit the athletic scenes, minor adjustments were made to the waist, ensuring a distinct waistline while allowing for wide-range movements. For the hairstyle, the classic brownish-red short hair is paired with double hair buns on both sides, topped with a small white round hat and red hair clips. This styling seems simple, but it highly tests the wig's stability when shooting an athletic series, especially since it easily catches the wind and shifts during roller skating.

Of course, the most eye-catching part is this red-and-yellow sports protective gear and inline roller skates. The wrapping feel of the wrist guards and the hardness of the knee pads are just right, without hindering leg extensions. Although the roller skates feature a hard-shell material, the lining is comfortable, providing a highly stable center of gravity when performing single-leg support movements, which brought a great sense of security to the shoot. Holding that pink-and-white magic wand instantly makes the action tension much more substantial.

The shooting location was chosen within the city blocks of Shenzhen for city street photography. The modern glass curtain wall buildings and lush greenery create a wonderful, intertwined atmosphere of reality and anime. The ground after the rain was actually very slick, posing a major challenge for roller skating photography. Although the white paint of the crosswalk enhanced the geometric depth of the frame, it became extremely slippery after the rain. Fortunately, the photographer and I had a great unspoken chemistry; while ensuring safety, we captured the moments of stepping on the crosswalk while waving hello (Picture 2), and swinging out a long leg while waving the magic wand from a high-angle overhead view (Picture 5).

The single-leg standing balance movement (Picture 4) was the hardest posture to manage in the frame. The background skyscrapers and scattered raindrops reinforced the texture of the image, and I really love that state of serenity mixed with motion. When processing the first picture, I also added that yellow sprite with a feathered tail, giving the frame a bit more plot interaction.

The final photo of quietly leaning against the railing (Picture 6) is a close-up I personally love very much. With the help of the blurred foreground green tree branches and leaves, it adds a fresh aura of late summer and early autumn to the entire frame. This set can be said to present the "On the Way to School" theme—both everyday and magical—through a perspective much closer to a modern metropolis. Whether it's the accuracy of the costume or the creation of the overall atmosphere, it tries its best to recreate that unique youth and vitality. This is a meaningful piece of Anime-style photography.
